Their dedication and passion is second to none. They all have families, yet they sacrifice so much of their time to be a part of a team. The decisions they make, the time they put in and the desire each member feels is vital to making a good Race Team. All pit crew members have one thing in common, they want to see the driver go out on the track with the best possible car available and to see the driver cross the finish line safely with hopefully a first position to the teams credit.
Put yourself in a pit crew members job for a minute. They all have jobs at least 40 hours a week which they do get paid for. But they come home, have a quick bite to eat, kiss their love ones good-bye and head out to the work shop where they spend anywhere from 5 hours to 25 hours and sometimes a lot more, a week without getting paid, and why you ask?
Because they love it. They are a part of something, part of a team, which is vital for Racing.
The travelling for a pit crew member can be unbelievable. Sometimes travelling from state to state, to hurry and gets things set up to (hopefully) qualify...and at least finish. I have watched many times at our local track, teams coming from many states away & not even make the field in qualifying.
So next time you get to the Speedway take 5 minutes to go down to the pits and see how much the crew members really do. You will be amazed.
As a Racing fan myself... I would like to thank each and
every one of the pit crew members for their dedication.
Because without YOU.. I would have no Racing to watch.
To....Steve, Jody, Lamar....& all the others! THANKS
