 ~¤~September~¤~

*

September

Is a warm thought

And blue Skies;

It is a truth that you reveal

With September's rising star:

The complexion of your skin tone

And the images of joy

That form within

Your smiling mind -

Bring your love to me in

September.

*

~¤~A bright autumn~¤~

*

I bought the bright bouquet on impulse,

As I walked through the labyrinthine mall,

The heavy aroma of life in autumn,

A scent captured, held - a thick, rich pall,

In the stale dry air of restless approbation.

*

I imagine your smiling, needy embrace,

Looking up to dark, blossoming rosebuds.

It strikes as a moment's warm joy,

The sudden radiance of a woman's love,

The flattering gift of glowing appreciation.

*

Hold the blossoms close to your face,

Languid sweet perfume for me to drink,

Flowers, rain, the curve of your mouth,

Your voice deeply seductive on the brink,

With such lingering sensuous provocation.

*

Engage me now without preliminaries,

No note of question, no pause of hesitation.

Sink insistently in blooming ecstasy,

Buried in your hair, suckling your sensation,

Kissing deeply, wildly, in a mad ovation.

*

~¤~Midnight Stroll~¤~

*

The sound of the waves lured

her down to the sand,

The cool waves wet lapping

feeling so soothing;

Familiar contours made strange

in the moonlight,

At the foot of the cliff face,

for her midnight stroll.

*

~¤~Spring~¤~

*

Among the thorns and leaves,

Bright berries shine

in the least glimmer of sun.

Red breasted Robins scatter

Seeking food and comfort

In winter's icy lands.

*

Reprieve for fluttering hearts,

Sought from churning fury

Of the snows raging outside.

Your warm utterings are needed

Unfreezing the deepest chill

Reviving me once again.

*

Will I find winter passion,

To chase these vapid tears

And burn the worries of today.

Sunfilled hours speak of love

Perhaps with one who cares

To be happy in spring.

*

~¤~Autumn Leaves~¤~

*

Like autumn leaves,

the beautiful women in their party frocks,

Appear lavish in a thousand colourful costumes

pretending to be joyful.

*

In their tearful hearts,

they might crumple leaf-like with sadness

thinking of little else but throwing themselves from

vacuous trees of high living.

*

Watching grey bark,

and sharp branches pass them by

as they fall slowly to the cold, frigid, humid earth,

to fester and die.

*

No - their garments,

may be discarded, not to fade and wither

Night draws ever on soft flesh, trembling in delight ,

in gentle embraces

*

And there the difference lies.

*

~¤~Returned~¤~

*

Returned,

To this little room,

Where velvet blue curtains,

hang heavy,

As your lidded eyes,

After making love.

*

Returned,

To this grey climate,

I catch an image,

on the wall,

of your distant self,

like a spirit

in the misty morning.

*

Returned,

And waiting for you,

Trapped unwilling,

in a summer idyll,

waiting for love and light.

as subtle as

your words in my mind.

*

~¤~A cloud of spring tears ~¤~

*

Rest until a whisper breaks the silence,

Sigh heavily in the afterglow.

Unable to do it, to speak the words.

Salty liquid in turned away eyes,

Reassurance denied, the voices trail off,

Into shadows as heads are lowered.

*

Wanting to run, to hide, never to hear,

A need to push the other away,

Hug limbs close - a pleading denial.

Fingers tremble on a shoulder,

Unable to reopen closed cul-de-sacs,

Depleted by flooding wetness.

*

Bedraggled by unheeding raindrops,

Gaze blindly up, never hopeful,

A shaking form clasped in her own arms.

Then her harsh ragged breathing,

Drowns the call of a soft distant voice,

And weeps a cloud of spring  tears.

*

~¤~Goodbye February~¤~

*

Looking out on fogbound weather,

Cool and misty days are clearing,

To reveal a life that is better;

Yearning for some freedom

From cool dank February,

And fretful, windy darkness.

*

The restless murmurings of spring,

A whisper that exalts my spirit,

And stirs the budding daffodils;

It makes my pulse speed on

To let the spirits free,

Accepting offers of excitement.

*

Beyond the dull winter half-life,

Within me such a feeling lies,

A thoughtful fantasy to act out;

Launch of a curious pursuit

And new seasonal challenges,

Delicious and rare warm joys.

*

The earthy creativity of spring,

Challenges my intelligence,

Refusing this snug, contentment;

Unwilling to rest passive,

I'll wake to fine offerings,

And embrace my wandering soul.

*

~¤~Spring Sunlight Shames~¤~

*

Spring sunlight shames,

Our grieving at this parting,

For you have gone.

*

Your flowers budding,

Will not ease your missing care,

Through warmest summer.

*

Though roses will live on,

While you lie under dead earth,

To autumn's sadness.

*

Rest now in the shade,

For with the shadow of winter,

Comes sweet repose.

*

~¤~The kiss of the storm ~¤~

*

First there comes the anticipatory strata of high cloud,

Milky, vapid, sensual - misty in the breeze,

Almost transparent;

Soft like a tender kiss, falling to the puffy cumulus,

Fleeing the dark threatening anvil behind,

and passed on.

*

An aerial mouthful, encompassing the burning breath,

of scorching lightning in the distance --

Febrile tongues;

Wagging over the still dry earth, flecking the sky,

Beneath the thickening obscenity,

Swelling theatrically.

*

I would take ownership of the passion of this storm,

Permitting the first heavy water droplets

To engage my lips;

Inhaling the ozone scent rising from damp pavements,

I wait, eyes half closed, in the darkening penumbra,

For the kiss of the storm.

*

~¤~Woodland Pleasures ~¤~

*

With the hot sun in its zenith,

Walk now lightly through the brush,

Hear trickling water in the distance,

Distinctive sounds in forest hush;

Rustling leaves beneath firm boot steps,

Do not subsume the flowing stream,

The rocky pool for cooling heels,

Sound forms a prelude to the seeing.

Water shimmers in the day's warmth,

Rivulets draining through the trees,

Intimating shameful pleasure,

Contrasting woodland reveries.

*

~¤~Evening Premonitions~¤~

*

Envisage horizons of green spiky treetops,

Crossed by the sun,fading round earth's curve,

Nothing but sky, cloudless over the woods,

As the evening's premonitions stir.

*

Green trees and blue sky, form a magnificence,

A breeze carries essence of raw wind and air;

The wonderful fleeting exactitude of light,

Cooling anxiety transcending beauty.

*

Puddles seem brackish at the end of the day,

The light glints orange on your glowing brow;

Determined light starts to fade into shadow,

For darkness and night are drawing in.

*

~¤~Reflecting~¤~

*

You liquefy my thoughts like flowing water,

When I find you ever in transient mood:

Agitated like a swirling tidal sea,

Then a calm and tranquil lake,

Midst placid woods.

*

You can be icy, like a bitter glacial stream,

Or laughing gaily as a flowing torrent:

Tears flood moistly down your cheek,

Eyes cry like waterfalls,

Sadness abhorrent.

*

The truth in each and every distinctive simile,

Lies in the feelings that we thus deflect;

In all their fluid, pouring waters,

Ripple with changing mood,

As we reflect.

*

 ~¤~ Leaf Storm~¤~

*

Acquaintance in a leaf storm,

Must swirl around our minds:

Yet every leaf that passes us,

Trails memories behind.

*

Life may seem a fallen branch,

That snaps down on our thoughts:

For every second that we stay,

We twig not what we ought.

*

Laughter fades as chilling breeze,

Gusts remembrance away:

Harshly whirling angst around,

To bare the lonely clay.

*

Memories lie like fallen leaves,

In garish autumn wear:

Seasonal mists obscure the past,

Frosts crackle and leaves tear.

*

~¤~Shady midnight dreams ~¤~

*

As the church bell tolled,

The moon veiled in mist, rose,

Never quite dark enough,

But still a phantom stirred;

I saw it was you,

Breaking into a run, swiftly,

Under the faded light,

Of these shady midnight dreams.

*

A bristling, yelping canine,

Joined you in insomnia,

Exploring the half light magic,

Where senses were deceived;

Never quite the noises you sought,

Just the gentlest of breezes,

Rustling so prematurely,

In your shady midnight dreams.

*

~¤~A Coastal Retribution ~¤~

*

Shielded from shore, shady nooks so full of guile,

Invigorate bluster, sheltering lewd invitation;

Cliffs rise sharply, quizzing rocks in sharp profile,

Giving way to formidable and angry formations.

*

Treading on egg shells with determined inconstancy,

Pounding debauched though the rough lapping waves;

Adulterous sands scratch and tear so impetuously,

Coastal, cataclysmic, echo marital rage.

*

The distracted mind's eye wanders over the shoreline,

Sighting the woman's figure, lonely in relief,

She paces onward angry, barefooted, determined,

The dark sky and grey sea matching her grief.

*

Framed as she comes to me, beautiful, furious,

Stand mesmerised on the cusp of the beach,

Ashamed to gaze at the sand, glance up still curious

Catching her smile as her nails rake a cheek.

*

~¤~ Dancing across the landscape ~¤~

*

Deride tempestuous storms,

Screams twist the heavens,

Plaintive and Ill-timbered,

Ringing out ever louder;

Harsh echoes created,

Grotesque rumbling hindered,

Her face a tearful match,

To misty rains that enshroud her.

*

Dissonant inclement groans,

Power beyond reasoning,

Colouring fearful servitude,

As she seeks improvement;

Submits with timorous fortitude,

At enlightenment's seasoning,

Metronomic palms create rhythm,

Pacing spasmodic movement.

*

Cry for terror at a little death,

Bent naked in rituals obscure,

Evocative, incendiary blows,

Strike to permit moans to escape;

Burn poppy strewn hillsides

Their imitation, other fires endured

A resonant, clacking dance,

Across an exposed landscape.

*

~¤~ The Succour of Words ~¤~

*

You knelt down next to me

Offering me the succour of words;

Tilting my face up to yours,

Endeavouring to sublimate,

My fears to a protective strength.

Within those brilliant, lustrous orbs,

Now glistening, shiny with pearly tears;

You could observe a power,

To take away the weariness

And bring new colour to pale cheeks.

*

The flesh of snowdrop cheeks

Lit by cool and kind encouragement;

They will find new pleasures,

In all the due solicitation

And endeavour of the rising sun.

We can walk this morning for hours,

Hand in hand, through fields and forests;

Up tortuous mountain paths,

So very carefully tended,

By the refreshing violet light of dawn.

*

~¤~ Storm Struck Trees ~¤~

*

Raindrops pattering,

Break dark night's creeping silence,

The outraged winds erupt;

Thunder shattering,

Will, by rolling brisence,

Storm struck trees, disrupt.

*

Diving for cover,

Enamoratas shiver,

Passion delayed;

Each heated lover,

Sparking needs to deliver,

Very much unfazed.

*

Faint torch lights glimmer

Entwined limbs just tremble,

Desires relayed;

Urgent fires simmer,

Two backed beasts assemble,

Once again engaged.

*

Inevitably

The climax is constructed

Rare conflagration;

Yet, regrettably,

Coitus is interrupted -

Scorching cessation.

*

With irony, learn

From steaming cindered forms,

In dawn's calm release;

Lightning may well burn,

Love makers finding shelter,

Under storm struck trees.

*

~¤~ Through Night ~¤~

*

Profoundly tired,

Worried echoes resounding,

Leave you ill at ease;

Comfort required,

Unfamiliar surroundings,

Haunting frustration.

*

Anxiously tremble,

At retreating loud footfalls,

Denying release;

Whispers dissemble,

Through dense tapestried walls,

Ghostly summation.

*

Ideas reflective,

Give injunction to pleasure,

Between nestled thighs;

Lost in perspective

Expose your downy treasure,

And bolster delight.

*

The rippling covers,

Announce that moist arrival -

Ecstatic surprise;

Fingers your lovers,

Release timid arousal,

To sleep through the night.

*

~¤~ Promenade ~¤~

*

Restless, nebulous,

Her crepuscular shadow,

Seeks adventure;

Quite transpicuous,

She paces with bravado,

Courting dawn's censure.

Breezes blow down mists,

Across ambient, trickling streams,

Dissembling weeping;

Tranquil sleep resists,

Eyes flicker through vivid dreams,

Still she is sleeping.

*

Pebble dashed walks,

Fringe crew cut garden golds,

Verdant, attracting;

Sunlight fingers stalk,

Rare silken petals unfold,

Sensing madefaction.

At this early hour,

Roscid humectation cools

Those esurient buds;

Infiltrate flowers,

Invade unsanctioned pools,

Mulching earth to muds.

*

Absent shadow return,

Perigrinations incomplete,

For she is restless;

Pace no more and learn,

End fuliginous deceits,

Lest you cause distress.

Ever Ambiguous,

Dew saturates vague dreams,

Precursing awakening;

Never vertiginous,

Reflections stillborn demean,

Diaphanous foresaking.

*

~¤~ Balneal Suggestions ~¤~

*

Placid at first blushing dawn,

Quiescent, sluggish flesh

Under vernal jets so fresh:

Torpid sleep thus disempowered.

Those aqueous flows sluice warm,

Immersing calidity reflects

Affused compliance accepts

A soaking aestival hour.

*

Those brumous droplets form -

Deluge brings relaxed calm,

Satiates matutinal qualms -

Lather unguents and scour.

Oblige harbingers of cool morn,

Cleanse to restore the glow,

Macerate attentions bestowed,

Suggestive cockcrow shower.

*

~¤~ Tallow glow ~¤~

*

Holding a candle,

to shadow unknown longings ,

Hands will tremble so;

Wretched existence,

Tortured imagery,

One might never know.

*

Flame untouched,

Derided, abandoned.

Memories echo;

Flickering whispers,

Recall aching embraces -

In the tallow glow.

*

~¤~ Through August ~¤~

*

Through August until fall,

I'll prune the whitest rose,

reviving buds that show,

from May, I do recall;

And even at this hour,

thorns are well extended,

the gardening's not ended,

nor is this precious flower.

*

Winter brings her slumber,

in that soft bed, sleeps still,

the ground's too hard to till,

in spring shoots burst asunder;

Acquaintance once renewed,

cultivated with delight,

grows just like roses white,

with friendship thus imbued.

*

The envious may curse,

but let it not be said,

that roses pink or red,

are anymore the worse:

When all is done, recall,

you choose how to enhance,

your garden with fresh plants

through August until fall.

*

*

~¤~ Looking Glass Surrounds ~¤~

*

Avoiding the hardwood surrounds ,

Motes of dusts blur observation,

Looking glass imagery confounds,

Free standing still and circumspect;

Bright eyes steeled on your surface,

Thoughts, impressions, introversion,

Contemplating harsh reverses,

Perplexed confusion in retrospect.

*

Deliberating at harsh impuning,

Such speculation may well matter,

Inanimate mirror, still communing,

With the dissipation of my youth;

Musing through ephemeral seasons,

Glass ambitions will one day shatter

Unendowed with reflective reason,

Enduring surrounds reveal truth.

*

~¤~ Wet Heartbeats ~¤~

*

Crack! A teacup breaks,

dropped on the crazy paving,

shattering like your love;

Such tearful mistakes -

passion's storm is raging,

as rain clouds break above.

*

These drenched gardens,

hold wilted yellow flowers,

fading slowly on wet clay;

The earth still hardens,

despite the summer showers -

Wet heartbeats of my day.

*

~¤~ Cool morning Dew ~¤~

*

Cool morning dew captures inky black night,

Ensnared in the gleam of those eyes.

That sacred laughter, the sheen of that hair,

Leaves imprisoned all languid surprise.

*

Quivering, sighing, serendipitous moans,

Brings flickering heat from each ember;

Pliant festivity, that glistening mouth,

Anticipates fragrant surrender?

*

~¤~Thank Frost~¤~

*

Dear maple, thank frost if you dare:

Shudder and recall:

Jack strips your foliage. You'll sleep bare

When winter follows fall.

*

His crackling slyness you'd rebuke:

His cold breeze shakes your arbour:

The lassitude, that he invokes,

Must obviate your ardour.

*

Restraining you with webs of ice:

Seasoned by gusted charms:

He lulls you, dulls you, even gulls you -

Into Winter's calms.

*

Disrobed, your gown absorbs his breath,

That robe of crimson red -

Slips from your trunk - iced up in death,

Beneath frost's brittle tread.

*

That red will fade in winter's dark

To leave black soil exposed,

A contrast to that pallid bark,

Stripped of those summer's clothes.

*

Frost thus deployed, survive controlled -

With spring your future care:

Dear maple, rest up through the cold:

And thank frost if you dare.

*

~¤~Bonding in a fog~¤~

*

The fog lies heavy across valleys and hills,

And all its mist swirls around, so white,

Keeping your nearby form out of sight

As if you were sleeping from day into night;

It blanks my thoughts -- with its dampening chills.

*

Within this cloudy vault, we drift and we curl

Behind opaque and shadowy flirting:

Stealing the sureness and lying uncertain,

A crepuscular drift, an impenetrable curtain . . .

Yet here we bond - hands clasped; a man and a girl.

*

~¤~Silvan Illusions~¤~

*

Embracing the arboreous delusion

Of an elusive dryad kissed,

Shadowy deciduous illusion -

So dendritic, but so soon eclipsed.

Trailing through mossy clearings,

Wooden thoughts accumulating,

Fungal arguments appearing,

A spinney's tendrils aggravating.

*

Reaching a woodland bifurcation,

Before all had been done and said,

A ligneous parting of directions

Breaking evanescent threads.

Once distant beneath the foliage,

I heard her take floral breath,

Could she repair the damage

To the boscal illusions left?

*

Sundering ferns from the bracken,

The brooms, the furze and the gorse,

Love's illusions speedily slackened,

And inevitably vanished perforce.

This so sudden disappearance,

Still seems premature and rude,

Memory can't restore adherence,

To silvan illusions construed.

*

~¤~Waiting Game~¤~

*

Standing there, clutching that pillar,

Dressed in your thin robes of blue,

In grey skies a white swan rises,

As you gaze wistful, hopeful too.

*

Beneath the marble arch awaiting,

Bare feet cool against the stone;

Your hair is windblown, ever restless

Maiden watching there alone.

*

Smoky clouds gather behind you,

Turning bleak grey skies quite black;

You'll be drenched, deafened by thunder

At the lightning storms' attack.

*

Still you stand there, watchful woman,

Like the helmsman at his tiller;

Who do your eyes guide home, lady,

Standing there, clutching that pillar?

*

~¤~Arboricultural Questions~¤~

*

Do the trees grow more when they're swaying?

Do branches rustle soft in the park?

Are the leaves that are shed now decaying?

Is the elm's disease worse than its bark?

*

Is the ground soft and mulchy beneath me?

Will the roots of the oaks ever know?

Do the worms turn about in the soil?

Do the trees sway more when they grow?

*

~¤~Post Prandial~¤~

**

Acquiescent, I will slumber after noon,

And eulogise the chatter of the birds:

Observing evening always comes too soon,

Post-prandial: I need no other words.

*

I want to view the shadows of the trees,

Lengthen on the ground around our feet;

Considering a gather of thick clouds,

That gift the rain, engendered by this heat

*

I want to rest somnolent at this hour,

A carafe of white wine assists my sleep;

Surrounded by the ruins of our dining,

An after dinner drink leaves me quite replete.

*

The table is now bare - nothing to munch on,

Let's wallow in the shade, absorbing luncheon.

*

~¤~A Cracking Song~¤~

*

Life is a cracking song for that harsh whip.

Head down, bending your body to this task,

Straining the sinew you would have outlast

Flails slicing your flanks whenever you slip.

*

But for your blinkered focus, eyes would skip,

Or close in laboured thought at every gasp.

The mixed froths of saliva and blood mask

A metal sharpness slicing through your lip.

*

The muddy earth absorbs each iron hoof,

Sweat glistens, ploughing furrows, down your back,

Poor equine slave of cultivating truth,

Harnessed on the inexorable track

Of autumn disempowered by this reproof:

A life of harsh whips singing out each crack.

*

~¤~On the Table~¤~

*

Lying placid upon the table in the sun,

Dark torso curled up next to a glass bowl,

Dream stretching dreams so full of feline fun

And warm the playful kitten of that cat's soul.

Pristine, velvet fur as black as coal,

Enjoys the mellow heat of sunny rays,

Time's passing and will surely take its toll,

But sleepy puss dreams on of yesterday's

Varied delights, sensations, smells and tastes:

The mysteries learnt in nine full lives of fable,

Ears twitching - here's disturbance you can't place.

Though, by dozing review, you may be able

To find new meanings no one else could trace

Lying placid in the sun upon the table.

*

~¤~Any Fool~¤~

*

Sparks catch briskly - trees cannot draw back

from any fool's adrenalin gift.

Who'd stay to match the fierce attack?

Fires flicker and enlist

Glowing branches stretch out - Implore the excited:

Wills igniting anything.

*

"I thought," fire crackles," I'd go the way I came."

"We are but kindling to you,"

Trees heatedly remind. "Sweet, incandescent flame,"

They blush and beg and plead anew.

"Allow this smouldering presence." Flames beguile: "The

Willing ignite anything."

*

True firestorms blacken all. The acrid shame

Of sylvan markings undeserved:

Fed by pyres - charred ashes raised again,

The romance of forests preserved,

If wood resists, beneath the bark, brush away

Any will. Igniting things.

*

~¤~Risking Summer~¤~

*

Should we risk summer - forsaking luscious, verdant sins -

abandoning the carnal delights we once eagerly rejoined?

*

Should we quiet desire at these glorious vernal awakenings -

guarding earthy pleasures we might have vapidly purloined?

*

Should we rejoice gladly in the faked platonic happenings -

Avoiding the dire, inelegant trysts love would have enjoined?

*

Or should we make love madly to September?
