Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: 'Strange Bedfellows'

The Dominion expands by making an alliance with the Breen, something Damar is none too happy about when he slips even further down the chain of command and his people seem to be becoming cannon fodder. Meanwhile, 'Anjohl' admits that he is working on behalf of the Pah Wraiths, and Kai Winn has a difficult decision ahead of her. Worf and Ezri await execution and confront their future together.

Once again, there's plenty going on in this episode, with most of the main characters being involved, and some effective power play going on in the Dominion, and between Winn and Dukat as the Kai must decide where her future lies. This aspect is the only real problem I have with the episode, as after all her tearfulness over her love of the Prophets, Winn still makes the wrong decision. Her turnaround just comes a little too suddenly considering her shock at learning she has been dealing with the Pah Wraiths.

The other plotlines come together nicely, however. The change in Damar's attitude is well-done, and Worf's reaction to Weyoun is totally unexpected and brutal. Worf and Ezri's closer friendship is also effectively delineated, witht these last few episodes giving the two a much deeper understanding of each other and themselves. This could be the beginning of a very strong friendship.

Another powerful and foreboding episode that promises plenty more to come.
