Misunderstanding
I can’t die!

Just as Inuyasha was about to break Kouga's neck permanently, the wolf youkai snapped into action. He willed his right feet into Inuyasha's stomach; it didn't hurt the hanyou but just shocked him, Inuyasha's claw relaxed for a second to recover, and it was enough time for Kouga to make a comeback.

The wolf youkai kicked the tree behind him, the force propelled him forward and caused Inuyasha to let go and fall to the ground. Kouga rolled 720 degrees in midair and landed swiftly on the ground. Although his wounds are still hurting him, as a full youkai he managed to push the pain to the back of his head.

Wasting no time Kouga jumped onto Inuyasha's stomach. To Inuyasha's surprise, th impact wasn't painful as it could've been.

"Keh, are you getting weaker or something?" Inuyasha quickly jumped up and returned to his fighting pose. "Bastard, I wasn’t careful, but this time I’m not holding back."

And to add to his shock, Kouga leaned against a tree with one hand rubbing his neck. "I don't want to fight you anymore, Inu...Inuyasha."

Inuyasha sputtered. "You are a coward, Kouga. Just because you know you can't win..."

"That's not it!" Kouga yelled in his own defense.

Sango is still attending to Shippo. But she took the time to look up and wonder why Kouga suddenly retreated. From the corner of her eye she saw that Miroku and Haruko were also staring at the two fighters in surprise. Kagome is still in Miroku's arms. It also surprised Sango that Miroku hasn't groped the miko yet.

"When you were chocking me back there, I realized something." Kouga looked to the ground, both ashamed and embarrassed. "I realized that I deserved to die. It was low to try that on Kagome. I also realized that a part of me wanted you to come in time."

Inuyasha didn't make a sound. He wasn't sure if the wolf was just buying time, but he listened anyway. In truth... Fucking wolf, if he didn't piss me off so badly I would never had tried to kill him. Hell, if he gives a good apology, I just might let him go... with another beating of course.

"And besides..." the wolf added, "After today, I don't think I can't face Kagome again." He looked down at the earth, in sadly and in regret. "Inuyasha... after today, I'll be gone from your life forever."

Before Inuyasha said anything back, a soft moaning sound attracted their attention.

About 10 yards away, the young miko laid in Miroku's arms, shifting a little. She looked like she's having a bad dream. Her brows are knitted together, her arms and legs moving a little. After 10 seconds of moving and shifting, she finally opened her eyes and screamed: "Please Akagi sensei, let me have a retake!"

Kagome is sweating a little, her brown eyes wide open, so is her mouth, drawing in lots of air. Nobody said a thing, all too shocked by her reaction. After two minutes of gasping, Kagome finally recognize where she was. Seeing that the girl was finally back again, Miroku slides a hand down to her back... all the way down. Even though she was still half asleep, the girl still had the good sense to slap Miroku on the face and jumping out of his arms.

"Kagome-chan, you woke up!" Sango yelled in happiness. Happy that Kagome has finally regained consciousness, and that Miroku's mask was lifted. I knew he wouldn't last too long.

Huh?" Kagome's head is dizzy because she jumped up in a hurry. "What...what happened?"

After she regained her sight, her eyes searched around for Inuyasha. Oh, there he was, standing tall like he always is, not far away from her. He looked wonderful, his silvery hair flows with the wind, and amber eyes looking back to hers, blood covered his claws... huh? Blood?

When Kagome saw the injured Kouga standing not far from Inuyasha, weak and about to faint from the look of him, she yelped. Before anyone had the chance to explain to her, Kagome flipped her lid.

She walked angrily toward Inuyasha, not willing to go near him and screamed. "Inuyasha! What did Kouga-kun ever do to you that you had to hurt him like that! He was just showing me his new cave. It's not his fault that I fainted!" Inuyasha stuttered in surprise, he could not believe that Kagome would blame him. Kouga and the rest of them were surprised as well. All of them tried to cut in, but Kagome's voice drowned them all. "You're a terrible person! I can't believe you!"

Inuyasha is stunned, and without a word to say. Kagome ignored the silence and rushed over to Kouga. "Kouga-kun, are you alright? I'm so sorry about this."

Kagome looked as if she was about to cry. Kouga just couldn't bear it anymore. He turned around, refused to let Kagome heal his wounds. "Gomenasai, Kagome. Gomen!" He knelt down and using his own claws, dug out the two Shikon Shards embedded in his skin and threw them toward Inuyasha's direction. After that, with his injured back and chest, the wolf walked away in silence. Kagome wanted to run after him and tend to his wounds, but his actions confused her. If nothing else, she understood that he wished to be left alone. She watched as Kouga's body disappeared from view.

Inuyasha held the two shards in his palm, but he did not look at them. Instead his amber eyes focused on Kagome. The miko looked quite sad after Kouga went away, and something tells him that he was about to have a beating of his own.

As if on cue, Kagome turned to the hanyou with a deadly stare in her eyes. She whispered in a dangerous tone, "I don't know what your problem is, Inuyasha, but I'll be damned if I ever talk to you again." By then Kagome was crying. I thought he changed, but now I see he's still that violent inu-hanyou I met six months ago.

Kagome turned toward Shippo and Sango's direction. She picked up the shocked Shippo on her arms and caressed him. Sango was just about to explain in Inuyasha's defense when she saw the hanyou throw the two Shikon shards toward Miroku, then he lept away from the group. Miroku and Haruko all turned to stare at Kagome. The miko was quietly weeping. Weeping for the loss of a friend, and the loss of Inuyasha. By Inuyasha's actions, everyone knew that he wasn't going to come back. Miroku stared at the two shards in his hand and sighed. He really is gone.

Kagome didn't want to face her friends. At the moment she didn't even want to face herself. She dropped the kitsune gently into Sango's hands and walked away as well.
