Northern Italy

Tre Cime di Lavaredo
Tre Cime di Lavaredo: We hiked up to Refugio Auronzo from on a trail near the toll booth on the road from Misurina. Then we did the easy walk along the ridge past Tre Cime. It's a crowded place once you get up there but beautiful. And Yasmin actually enjoyed the crowds, especially all the dogs.

Parco Naturale Fanes-Sennes-Braies:
This was a relaxed 1/2 day hike from the village of San Cassiano, up into the park and back down along the river to where we started.

Cibiana
Cibiana: We spent a couple hours wandering around the very hilly village of Cibiana trying to take in all the murals painted on the houses there. Though we tried to follow the suggested routes, there were so many murals that I'm sure we must have missed some.

Israel

Shell Beach at Hof HaBonim
Hof HaBonim: On our way to Yasmin's great-grandmother's home in Haifa for Pesach 2000, we stopped to do the nature hike at Hof HaBonim. This is our favorite coastal hike. Here Yasmin is enjoying the shells at Shell Beach.

In an Avdat cave
Avdat National Park: The date is January 1, 2000 and Guy and Yasmin are escaping the sun in the cave behind one of the ruined houses at the Nabatean ruins of Avdat. The ruins are not far south of Sde Boker (south of the En Avdat trail described on our desert hiking page). While you might not technically think of this as a hike, you can walk through the ruins on a trail going up from the visitor center and since there are a lot of ruins, you can do a lot of walking here. There are even marked hiking trails going off from the top of the ruins.

North America

Prospect Mountain
Prospect Mountain in New York's Adirondak State Park: Stopping for a picnic on the top of Prospect Mountain after a long hike up through forest from Lake George, this was Yasmin's first ever hike. In the forest we got to enjoy the company of a lot of chipmunks but once we reached the picnic site we saw mostly humans since there's a road attracting them up there by the carload.

Sterling Pond
Sterling Pond on the Long Trail in Vermont: We did the short hike up from Smugglers Notch to the lake and back in beautiful foggy weather.

Deer Leap Deer Leap Rock in Vermont: We hiked up through forest from Sherburne Pass, stopped to check out the view from Deer Leap Rock and returned the way we came. This is not a very steep hike and the view is good at the end if you like looking at ski hills.
