Hosted by the RAAF Amberley Scale Modelling Club at the RAAF Base Amberley on Sunday 5th November 2000. This was a good opportunity to get up close to some RAAF aircraft. The day got under way after meeting at the front gate and setting off to the 23SQN hangar. With the recently restored Boston and the Catalina currently undergoing restoration on display at the hangar. Outside there was also a CAC Sabre, GAF Mirage III0 and the legendary F111-G A8-274. Plus some military vehicles on display similar to what’s being used in the INERFET campaign in East Timor. A model display and competition was also held during the course of the day as well as workshops on airbrushing and weathering. Overall it was a good day and I’m looking forward to the next one. IPMS showed off the skills of it’s club members by winning in the following areas.
