Chapter 15

°¥° The Little Things °¥°
Chapter Fifteen

Adrea looked up from her stacks of paper; Chris’s car pulled up into the driveway, with Hailee and Jonathan in tow. Her gut told her something had happened, something she didn’t want to even know about yet. Hailee looked pissed off, and Jonathan looked shocked as Chris pulled them in side the house by their arms.

“Dre, I found your little one at the mall with this little one.” Chris said shutting the front door.

“Hailee, care to explain?” Adrea asked raising an eyebrow trying to keep her cool, remembering what her doctor had said to her hours earlier.

“Explain what? That school sucks that Jonathan and I left and had a fun time at the damn mall? Or do you want me to explain to Uncle Chris how you hit me and yell at me for no damn reason?” Hailee asked raising an eyebrow as she crossed her arms over her chest.

Adrea stood up and grabbed Hailee’s arm.

“10-year-olds shouldn’t be saying damn, and 10-year-olds should be at school all day long while their parents work their asses off to put food on the table and a roof over their heads. You little girl, are still grounded, you are to not come out of your bedroom until I say. Get up there now!” Adrea said pulling Hailee up the stairs and to her bedroom.

Adrea walked down the stairs holding her stomach, it had a slight pain in it. She looked up at Chris who was standing next to Jonathan watching the TV. It kept replaying Mitch helping Justin into a cop car his eyes swollen and red from crying. Chris looked at Adrea, at the same time Jonathan did.

“What is wrong with my brother?” Jonathan asked, all Chris had to do was look at Adrea.

“You see, Sarah met her real father, Gavin Garrett. Turns out he has 7 counts of rape on his record, and he kind of took off with Sarah. He kidnapped her in the airport and so far they don’t know where she is at.” Adrea said with more shooting pain in her stomach.

“What the hell were they even doing talking to him then?” Chris asked in shock at what Adrea had just told him.

“They didn’t know! I did some background looking on him, and JC called Justin up too late.” Adrea said closing her eyes and taking a deep breath.

Adrea stood up slowly and pulled her coat on. She looked at Jonathan then at Chris; her eyes slowly looked at JC the phone pressed tightly on his ear his eyes burning with tears.

“Come on Jon, I’ll take you home and try to explain why you skipped school with Hailee.” Adrea said grabbing her purse and walking towards the front door.

“I’ll stay with JC.” Chris said as Jonathan and Adrea walked out the front door and drove off towards Randy Timberlakes house.

The whole drive to Jonathan’s house was quiet; Jonathan kept humming songs looking out the window. He had never been in so much trouble in his life.

“Why are you doing this Jon? You are a good kid, what has Hailee got over your head that is making you skip school with her?” Adrea asked turning a corner

“She don’t have anything over my head Mrs. Chasez.” Jonathan said still looking out the window.

“When did you start calling me Mrs. Chasez, Mr. Timberlake what is going on with you? You are a good kid, I know Hailee is too she is just going through some sort of phase in life.” Adrea said pulling up to the Timberlakes house.

They both got out and walked in the front door. Randy was on the phone with what sounded like Karen or Roy. Lisa popped her head out of the kitchen, when she seen who was walking into her house she walked out and into the front room.

“Adrea, what have you been up too?” Lisa asked taking Adrea into a hug, “How is the baby doing? Good I hope.” Lisa smiled placing her hand on Adrea’s stomach.

“The doctor said to keep my stress level down, which is very hard considering the fact that my daughter is being a little brat, and what has gone down with Sarah.” Adrea said turning a little and looking at Jonathan. “I brought him home for you, Chris found him and Hailee skipping school at the mall.” Adrea added pointing to Jonathan.

Jonathan looked up at his mother, fear in his eyes. He just started to get in trouble, and it was all for a girl.

“Mom, it isn’t like that at all… I swear!” Jonathan said looking down at the ground.

Lisa stood there and took a deep breath, Jon was a good kid, better then when Justin was that age.

“Jonathan, go up stairs and think about what you have done. Do you want to be come a no body? Someone who has to live on the streets when they are older, because they skipped school just to look ‘cool’?” Lisa asked pushing him towards the stairs.

Jonathan was about to protest when he heard his fathers’ voice boom out from the dinning room.

“Do as your mother tells you Jon!” Randy yelled hanging up the phone.

Randy walked into the front room and greeting Adrea with a hug, she stood there and talked for a few minutes before she told them she had to leave, the pain in his stomach kept getting worse and she didn’t want to start crying in front of Justin’s parents.

Adrea pulled up to her house and walked in the front door. Chris had left ten minutes before leaving JC alone with his own sorrow. Adrea looked around the front room and kitchen, no one was down stairs, and she slowly walked up the stairs and into her bedroom. JC was throwing some cloths into a suitcase.

“Where are you going?” Adrea asked not moving an inch from the doorway.

“I’m going to California, I can’t leave Justin there in his state of mind, I can’t be here Adrea.” JC said pulling some boxers and socks out of the dresser.

“I’ll go with you, me you and Hailee.” Adrea said walking into the bedroom a little more.

She was afraid of staying home alone. The pain in her stomach was getting worse and worse each passing minute and she didn’t know what to do if something really bad happened. JC ignored her as he shut the suitcase and snapped it locked. His eyes wondered over to his wife. He let go of the suitcase and took her into a hug.

“You need to stay here, you can’t take Hailee out of school she needs to go to school.” JC said running his hands up and down her back as he kissed the side of her face. “Why don’t you get some sleep, it’s going on 9pm and the doctor said rest is needed, I don’t want you to loose that little bundle of joy in your stomach.” JC said running hand over Adrea’s stomach as he pulled the covers back and helped her into the bed.

“I don’t care what time it is, call when you get to our, or Justin house in California.” Adrea said as JC kissed her forehead lightly.

“I promise to call the moment I pull up to Justin’s house.” JC said pulling the covers up and leaving the bedroom.

Hailee slowly opened her bedroom door, JC had left over 4 hours ago for the airport, meaning Adrea was sound asleep in her bedroom. With her backpack over her shoulders, she tiptoed down the stairs and out the front door. Hailee quickly punched in the numbers for the gate to open, she ran out it and down the street a little ways where she sat down and waited for her company to show up.

Jonathan stopped in front of Hailee, who was listening to her walk man and drinking a soda, her eyes traveled up and looked at him. Hailee stood up and glared at him.

“About time, pretty boy. What took you so long?” Hailee asked as she pulled her backpack on her shoulders again.

“I can’t just walk out the front door. My dad was on the phone with Justin. You know it’s only 10pm over there.” Jonathan said as they started to walk down the street.

“Then how did you get out? Did your fat ass father fall asleep on the phone or something?” Hailee laughed at her self as Jonathan grabbed her hand tightly.

“No, he isn’t fat, and he walked into the den.” Jon said as they came to a stop at a crosswalk.

Hailee tried to get her hand free from Jonathan’s death grip. He was either afraid of the dark, or thought she liked him. They came to a small strip mall 15 miles from their homes; it took them a good 3 hours to walk that far. Hailee sat down and got her hand free from Jonathan who sat down next to her.

“We didn’t get very far and it’s going on 4am.” Hailee said yawning a little as she grabbed another soda out of her backpack.

“We need to get friends that can drive places.” Jon said with a little laughter behind his words.

“We? Why would I need you if I had friends that could drive?” Hailee asked making a face at Jon.

“Well…” a man stepping up to them cut off Jon.

“What are you two doing out at 4am, and this far from home?” The man said scratching his goatee on his face. His eyes looking back and fourth between the two kids.

Hailee looked up at him, as did Jonathan, their eyes got bigger as he reached into his pocket and pulled something out. Hailee grabbed Jonathan’s hand and squeezed it tightly until she heard the sound of a cell phone. She looked up and noticed a cell phone in, the mans hand. His head was turned so he was looking behind him.

“Hey Lance, come look what I found!” His voice boomed out behind him as he brought his cellular phone up to his ear and waited for someone to answer the phone.

“Adrea?” Joey asked as a half-awake Adrea answered the phone.

“Joey, do you have any clue what time it is?” Adrea said in half her voice

“I have something of yours, something you value greatly, I actually found this something about 15 miles out of town, with another something Justin values greatly.” Joey said turning around leaving Hailee and Jonathan with Lance.

Adrea sat up and threw her covers off of her, with the cordless phone she ran out of the bedroom and into Hailee's bedroom. Adrea flipped on the light and ran over to the bed, she pulled down the covers and seen pillows in place of her daughter. Adrea’s heart started to pound faster and faster, her breathing was getting shallower and shallower.

“Is she okay? Where is she at?” Adrea asked grabbing the door-frame for support, she felt like she was going to black out.

“She is fine, I gave her a little fright, her and Jonathan. I’ll bring her home for you.” Joey said motioning Lance to get them in his car.

“Thanks Joey…” Adrea trailed off closing her eyes and placing her free hand on her stomach.

“See you in a few minutes.” With that Joey hung up the phone

Adrea dropped the phone while dropping to her knees. She was a good two months pregnant and she had never felt so much pain in her stomach before, not even with Hailee. Tears were burning her eyes as she grabbed for the phone lying a few feet in front of her. Clicking it off then back on she started to dial JC’s cellular phone number; he had called half an hour earlier to let her know she was home.

Her breathing became short and her heart started to race as she punched in the last numbers of his phone number. She knew he should have stayed home, in her gut she knew something was going to happen. Her hands started to shake traveling up her arms and down her body. No sound was coming out of her mouth; tears were running down her face as she tried her best to hold the phone up to her ear.

“You need to get some rest Justin…” JC started as he pulled his cell phone the rest of the way to his face. “Yeah?” He asked looking at his best friend sitting on the couch his cordless phone held tightly in his hands.

When no one answered JC looked at the cell phone at the caller ID, his heart started racing when the word “Home” was flashing brightly. Why was anyone up at 4am at home?

“Adrea, is that you? What’s wrong, are you okay? Did Hailee do something? Did you have a bad dream? Adrea?” JC asked pressing the phone to his ear even more, he could hear her short breathes and sounds of pain leaving her mouth before the dial tone sounded in his ear.

Adrea dropped the phone as the rest of her body crashed to the floor in a loud thud. She tried to get words out of her mouth, all she could feel was pain and she couldn’t seem to let anything out of her mouth. The last thing that happen she was falling to the ground the rest of the way while the front door opened up and in walked Hailee, Joey, Jonathan and Lance.

“I don’t understand why you had to call anyway, We weren’t hurt or anything.” Hailee said dropping her backpack on the couch.

“Hailee, you are only 10 years old. You and Jonathan are both way to young to be out on your own.” Lance said shutting the front door.

“Oh Big deal! It’s not like anyone would want to touch Jonathan anyway, he is a pretty boy.” Hailee rolled her eyes as she walked to the bottom of the stairs. “Are you going to leave or watch me go up stairs and into my bedroom?” Hailee glared as she crossed her arms over her chest.

“I’m going to let your mother know you are home safe and sound.” Joey said walking towards Hailee, and up the stairs right behind her.

Hailee stopped at the top of the stairs; her mouth dropped open all she could do was stare. Her hands went to her mouth and she let out a high pitched scream before she ran down the hall to where her mom was lying on the ground.

“MOM!” was all anyone in the house could hear.
