Chapter Twenty
(3-years later)
Adrea sat down on the couch; she was dead tired and needed some sleep. JC was gone, he couldn’t stay out of the studio for to long. He was now writing songs, and producing them for other singers, mainly Justin. Helping him start his solo career. After a good two years of being ‘family guys’ Justin started talks with JC and at the beginning of the New Year, 2005 they started to record songs.
This was hard on Adrea the most. The past three years a lot had happen. One thing that was a major factor was that Adrea got pregnant, and this time she didn’t loose the baby, or the babies. She gave birth to healthy babies, Taylor Shay Chasez, and Tyler Scott Chasez. On January 23rd, 2004, of course where there are twins there is always hell.
Hailee now at the age of 14, has become more civilized to everyone around her. She even calls JC dad now, when they found out Adrea was pregnant again, JC didn’t want to take chances and had Hailee go out to California to stay with Trevor during the summer.
Adrea sat up off the couch when she heard ‘mama’ coming from the top of the stairs, she was thankful for the baby gates she had or she’d have two kids who had fallen down stairs every other second. Adrea grabbed the cordless phone and walked up the stairs.
“Hey Taylor, when did you wake up?” Adrea asked reaching over the gate and picking up her newest daughter.
“Bah-bah?” Taylor smiled as she touched Adrea’s face and yanked on her hair.
Adrea sighed as she walked down the stairs, dialing a phone number as she walked into the kitchen to make Taylor another bottle.
“You know, the way you drink this bottles, you are going to be bigger then Uncle Joey.” Adrea laughed at her self, even though her daughter didn’t even know whom this Joey guy was.
Adrea jumped a little when a voice was heard on the other line of the phone that she was so tired and worn out she forgot she called someone.
“You shouldn’t be talking like that Adrea, it might happen.” Sarah smirked on the other end of the phone.
“Sarah, you know it’s been a full two days since Taylor and Tyler have seen you, they have been asking about you.” Adrea said placing the bottle full of formula in the microwave.
“Is that so? Maybe I should just come over, actually… yeah I’ll come over. I hate being home, I am supposed to be at work…” Sarah trailed off as she pulled a jacket on.
“If you’re sick then don’t come over. That’s just want I need, two 1 ½ year olds sick, then Hailee getting sick, then Josh and I’m the only one that won’t get sick. It always works that way. The wife never gets sick… NEVER!” Adrea laughed as she tested the warmth of the bottle and handed it to Taylor before she sat her down on the front room floor to play with her toys.
“I’m not sick Adrea… well Justin he thinks… well… I’ll tell you when I get there, I don’t want to tell you over the phone…tell Taylor Auntie Sarah is gonna be there soon!” Sarah laughed as she said a few more words to Adrea and hung up the phone.
Adrea rolled her eyes as she placed the phone down on the charger and sat down on the couch looking at her daughter. She was about to doze off when she heard a car pull up, she knew it only took a good five minutes from here to Justin’s place… yet it only felt like a few seconds had passed since she hung up the phone.
Sarah walked through the door and looked at an overly tired Adrea and at Taylor who was chewing on a Barbie’s leg. She let out a laugh as she took her coat off and hung it up in the closet.
“Dre, you look like hell!” Sarah said leaning over the couch and hugging the back of Adrea’s head.
“I wish I could say the same to you, yet I can’t you ARE five years younger then me, with NO kids.” Adrea said yawning a little.
“You are rich, yet you don’t have a nanny… Girl get with the program, get a nanny!” Sarah laughed as she squatted so she was eye level with Taylor.
Adrea rolled her eyes sitting forward a little to watch the two; Sarah was talking to Taylor making her, yawn and rub at her eyes. A smile formed on Adrea’s face as she stood up and picked the very sleepy Taylor up off the ground. Sarah watched as Adrea walked up the stairs to put Taylor back into bed.
Adrea walked down the stairs yawning a little, she sat down on the couch again and looked at Sarah.
“So tell me, why won’t Justin let you work? Is he jealous that some new…HOT guy at the office will hit on you, and try to take you away from him?” Adrea asked making Sarah roll her eyes and let out a sigh.
“I think Justin is a numskull! He wants to have kids Adrea…” Sarah trailed off looking at her hands.
Adrea sat up, he mouth open half shocked, half not shocked. He was 25 years old; he wants to have kids… most guys want to have kids get married. There was nothing wrong with Justin wanting to have kids.
“Sarah, there is nothing wrong with him wanting to have kids.” Adrea laughed
“He thinks that the reason I’m not getting pregnant, is because I’m working to hard. I mean, all I really do all day long is answer phones, talk to big rich people who want Justin’s money, talk to people who want Justin to help them. It’s the same every day and he thinks that me working is making harder…” Sarah trailed off as she looked up at the ceiling and then to Adrea before she finished what she was going to say. “He is stupid Adrea, I just want to slap him up side the head for thinking that way. I’m CO-president of that stupid company and he is president. He’s never there and now I’m never there.” Sarah sighed running a hand through her hair.
Adrea laughed a little at the thought of Justin telling Sarah she shouldn’t work because it was making it harder.
“Tell him he is stupid and that he can’t hold you back. You two aren’t married you know, you can make your own choices.” Adrea stated out flatly. “Josh has told me to get a baby sitter and go to the office, but I like working here and being with my kids. I work here most of the time, and when I have to meet with people I go and meet with them.” Adrea added
“I can’t believe you two had twins, twins don’t run it Josh’s family…” Sarah said trying to change the subject.
“Yeah, they don’t run in my family… it was odd when the doctor said there was two heart beats. We had already got the crib and all the stuff to have a baby, besides the clothes, then we had to go out and buy it all again.” Adrea laughed a tired laugh.
“Twins run in Justin’s family, Lynn has a twin sister… Justin had a twin sister.” Sarah said with a slight smirk.
“I didn’t know Lynn has a twin! Maybe that is who I seen at the store the other day. I was getting some more baby food and I seen this curly head and she looked just like Lynn, only her hair was an auburn red.” Adrea said making Sarah laugh
“Yeah, Laurie is in town for a few weeks. I had the pleasure of meeting her when I was 12, and then about a week ago. She is odd… very odd.” Sarah laughed as she remembered that day like it had just happened.
Justin pulled to a stop across the street from his mom’s house. He was just there last night, however he hadn’t brought Sarah who was sitting next to him in his Jag. Justin looked over at Sarah and smiled as he got out of the car. Sarah pushed her car door open and started to get out. Justin grabbed her hand and helped her.
“Justin I don’t need help getting out of the car.” Sarah said looking up at him
“I know, but if my aunt sees that I didn’t help you, I’ll never hear the end of it.” Justin said holding on to Sarah’s hand tighter.
Sarah stopped walking and looked up at Justin.
“If you don’t release the death grip you have on my hand we will never be able to have kids… do you under stand me.” Sarah said as she smiled up at Justin.
“I… I’m sorry, I’m just a little nervous that’s all.” Justin stated as he took a deep breath and started to the front door again.
“Why are you nervous, I’ve met her before… remember Mickey Mouse, the second week of the show, you had become good friends with my brother, and I was hanging around because my school hadn’t started yet.” Sarah said stopping again and looking at Justin.
“I know you met her before… but that was when you were a friend… a tom boy… and someone I wasn’t sleeping with.” Justin said raising his eyebrows up and down and he leaned into kiss her, only to have Sarah turn her head making him kiss her jaw. “You are going to pay for that one… no sex for a week.” Justin smiled as Sarah rolled her eyes.
“Works for me.” Sarah smiles batting her eye lashes as they walked in the front door.
Not even five seconds had past with them in the house when Laurie ran over to her hugged her tightly. She took Sarah’s hand and pulled her away from Justin and towards the family room. Justin rolled his eyes and sighed a little was he walked into the front room and sat down where all the guys were hanging out watching baseball.
“Lynn they are here!” Laurie smiled pulling Sarah into the family room where Lynn, Amanda, Laurie’s 22-year-old daughter was with her 3-year-old daughter.
Lynn laughed at her sister and stood up. She walked over to Sarah and took her into a hug.
“Just because I don’t live so close don’t mean you stop coming by to visit me.” Lynn said pulling away from the hug.
“I know, but I’ve been really busy with work and all. I usually don’t get home until a good hour or so after Justin gets…home…” Sarah said trailing off at the end of her sentence.
“Your kids are going to be just beautiful, absolutely beautiful… I hope they have your hair, LORD knows curly hair is a bitch, ain’t that right Lynn!” Laurie smiled as she placed her hand on Sarah’s stomach and rubbed lightly.
“We aren’t really thinking about kids… we… uh… haven’t even got married yet, he… hasn’t even… asked… me…” Sarah said shocked that the lady was rubbing her stomach.
“Don’t be silly! Us women can tell when one is pregnant. I say you are about three months… yes that’s it… don’t you think Lynn.” Laurie asked
“No… I’m not pregnant… I would know if I was or not… I’m not, really I’m not… I think you got it all wrong.” Sarah said trying to assure the woman she wasn’t pregnant.
“Don’t be silly, I can see it in your eyes and face. I can tell by how you carry your self. No need to lie we are all family here.” Laurie smiled as she pulled Sarah to the couch.
“No… listen I’m not lying, Lynn tell her I’m not lying. We aren’t ready to have kids… We aren’t even married…” Sarah trailed off, she could see Justin’s figure making it’s way down the hall way towards the family room.
Sarah couldn’t believe that Lynn wasn’t saying anything to stop her sister. It was pissing her off to say the less. Sarah pulled away from Laurie and looked at them.
“Well child, have you thought about names yet? From the looks of it, you aren’t going to have twins, which in some cases is a good thing. I had twins and when I was as far along as you I was showing like I was a good six months.” Laurie started, “have you picked out any cribs yet? You want the good ones…Hey Justin!” Laurie smiled brightly at her nephew.
Sarah was about to turn around but never got that far. Justin’s arms went around her and he hugged her from the back before he whispered into her ear.
“What is she talking about?” Justin whispered
“It was nice seeing you again Laurie.” Sarah said with a fake smile as she turned in Justin’s arms and pushed him out of the way. She was half way down the hall before Justin grabbed her arm and stopped her.
“What is going on? What was that about? They are asking if you are going to be sick… Sarah… Sarah answer me.” Justin said turning her around
“I hate being around your family… Justin, please just take me home.” Sarah said sliding her hands into his coat and hugging him.
“You don’t want to go home… do you?” Justin asked trying to make sure.
“Yes, I want to go home… eat ice cream watch Life Time… Movies for Woman and lay on the couch… with just you and no more of your family saying I’m pregnant! We aren’t even married and they are in there accusing me of being three months pregnant… what did you tell them yesterday?” Sarah asked sniffling a few times as Justin and her slowly started to walk towards the front door.
Justin opened the front door and they walked towards his car. He was silent for a few moments. For some reason he got an odd feeling in his stomach, that Sarah wasn’t telling him something, his aunt usually was never wrong when it came to picking out who was pregnant or not. He remembered when his cousin was pregnant, she hadn’t told Laurie yet, and she didn’t have to… Laurie could tell and questioned her daughter, when she was only a good month and a half a long.
“I told them I loved you with all my heart and that one day we would have kids, that we’ve been really busy to even work on that department of our relationship.” Justin said as they got into his car and took off.
Sarah snapped out of her thoughts when she heard a front door open, she opened her eyes and looked up to see Justin and JC there laughing about something. She looked over at the clock, she and Adrea both fell asleep… not for long though a good half hour at the most. She yawned a few times and stood up and looked at Justin, he was half way to her leaving JC in the dust.
Justin knocked Sarah back in to the chair she was sitting in and sat on her legs with his legs bent and each one on each side of her body. A smile was on his face as he took her face into his hands and kissed her lightly on the lips.
“Justin what are you doing? You are smashing me, get off.” Sarah said pushing at Justin’s shoulders.
Justin slid off of Sarah and stood up, he grabbed her hand and pulled her to her feet.
“Sorry, you don’t have to be mean.” Justin said eyeing her as he pulled her closer to him to kiss her.
Sarah turned away from the kiss and pulled away from Justin, who stood there shocked at her sudden movement. She started to walk towards the dinning room, where JC had gone followed by Adrea.
“Don’t kiss me.” Sarah stated before Justin grabbed her arm and turned her around.
“What is wrong, Sarah?” Justin asked looking her over
“Nothing, I just don’t want you to kiss me. Can’t you just leave me alone for once? All you ever want to do is kiss me, God just leave me alone Justin.” Sarah snapped jerking her arm away from Justin.
Justin with a confused look on his face looked up and seen Adrea and JC in mid-step coming out of the dinning room.
“Um, JC there is no need to go back to the studio. I mean it is almost 4pm, I have some things at the office I need to take care of, I’ll see you tomorrow.” Justin said turning around and walking quickly, out the front door.
JC bit his lip; he was about to say something when he heard one of the kids crying up stairs. He looked at Adrea to let her know he would go and see what was wrong. Sarah watched as he ran up the stairs.
“What was that about? Now I know you are a little up set that he feels you shouldn’t go to work, but being a bitch to him, in my book is no way to act Sarah.” Adrea said
Sarah sat down on the couch with tears in her eyes her arms around her stomach.
“No one told me I would feel this way, it would feel this way. I mean, I didn’t pay attention when I was told about it the few times in high school and when mom told me. I didn’t think it would happen to me, I mean I knew it would but not when they were telling me.” Sarah said tears burning her eyes.
Adrea sat down next to her, not knowing what Sarah was talking about. She was acting stranger and stranger as she kept talking.
“Sarah, what are you talking about? You never knew love would feel this way? You aren’t making any sense here at all.” Adrea said rubbing Sarah’s back.
“Justin thinks I’m depressed or sick or something. All because I cried about what his Aunt Laurie had to say about me being pregnant, then I cried when I was watching some stupid lame ass movie on Life Time: Movies for Woman. Why did I cry? I don’t know I just started to cry, I don’t cry when watching chick flicks… that isn’t me. He thinks I’m sick, I’m not sick though.” Sarah added sniffling a few times.
“He is just worried about you that is all. He loves you and he is just worried.” Adrea said reassuring Sarah about her relationship with Justin. “Love can be weird sometimes, and you feel different inside… maybe you are just truly in love with him that it’s making you feel…” Sarah cut Adrea off before she had a chance to finish her sentence.
“I’m pregnant!” Sarah said with a slight laugh, shocking Adrea
“How… when did you find out?” Adrea asked
“When I got pregnant.” Sarah said running a hand over her eyes.
“I got that much, how long have you know? How many weeks?” Adrea asked watching Sarah as she started to count with her fingers.
“About 16-weeks.” Sarah said sighing
“About 16-weeks for what?” JC’s voice was heard from the bottom of the stairs. Adrea turned to see him holding Tyler and Taylor.
Sarah looked at Adrea pleading with her eyes not to tell JC not…yet… not while she was there.
“Do you really want to know? Because if you really want to know, I’ll tell you and you won’t be happy.” Adrea said biting her lower lip as Sarah stood up.
“I’ve got to go, I’ve got to go apologize to Justin.” Sarah said hugging Adrea then giving JC a tight hug. “I’ll call you guys later.” Sarah added as she gave Taylor and Tyler kisses and half ran out the front door leaving JC and Adrea looking at each other.
Sarah pulled to a stop in front of the gate; Justin’s car was sitting on the other side in front of the house. She knew he came home and didn’t go to the office. She punched in the numbers and pulled through the open gate. Turning off her car, she sat there trying to make it look like she wasn’t crying at all. She got out of her car and walked to the front door. She took a deep breath and opened the front door.
“Justin, I need to talk to you, not only to say sorry but to tell you why I’ve been acting this way… having all these weird mood swings.” Sarah started as she took her shoes off. “You know things happen, and people get scared and I know I should have told you this when I found out. I didn’t know how too admit it to my self much less you.” Sarah stopped talking when she heard a door up stairs click shut; she sighed knowing Justin was really mad at her.
She walked up the stairs and stopped in front of their bedroom door. Taking another deep breath she pushed it open and walked in side. The curtains were closed and there was candles lit all around the bedroom. Sarah looked around and there was no sign of Justin, her eyes came to the bed where three cards lay standing up. She put her purse down on the chair next to the door and walked over to the bed picking up the first card.
“Boyfriend” Was what the front of the card read Sarah opened it and read what it said in side, “A favored male companion or sweetheart. A male friend.” With confused eyes and a confused face, Sarah picked up the next card. “Husband” was what the front read. Flipping it open she read what it said, “A man joined to a woman in marriage; a male spouse.”
Sighing and on the verge of tears Sarah picked up the last card which read, “Father” on the front. She flipped it open and read in Justin’s hand writing what he wrote, “Something I’m not, yet will wait forever to be with you by my side.” Sarah sat the cards down when hearing Justin read out loud what she was reading.
Sarah turned around and looked at him he was wearing boxers and a suit coat with a white flower in one hand.
“I had this whole ordeal planned out on how I was going to ask you, for months, then today when you got mad at me for kissing you. For some reason I took it as a, ‘ask me to merry you or I’m going to go find someone else, I’m 25 and can’t stay single the rest of my life.” Justin said opening his hand with out the flower in it and showing Sarah a diamond ring. “So Sarah Chasez, will you marry me… make me a happy husband, not boyfriend… until death do us part?” Justin asked getting down on one knee in front of her.
