Chapter Twenty-four
Jonathan jumped up off the couch and ran over to the phone, it wasn’t his house but it was his brothers’ house so he felt he could just answer the phone. It wasn’t something that he thought hard about, he just jumped up when he heard it ringing. He grabbed the cordless phone and it clicked on, he looked for Sarah but didn’t see her.
“Hello?” Jonathan asked when the person on the other end began to talk the phone was pulled out of his hand by Sarah who was giving him a look.
He shrugged his shoulders and walked back to the couch where he was sitting next to Hailee and Tiffany. Sarah pulled the phone number to her ear, and walked back into the kitchen where she was talking with Adrea and helping feed the twins. Sarah stopped in her tracks, the voice was a woman and she must have called the wrong number.
“So I neglected to get a hold of you, even though you never gave me your phone number. I knew who you were and I don’t want anything from you, it’s just Amanda is four now and she’s been asking about her daddy…” The Lady was cut off by Sarah.
“UM, Miss… I think you got the wrong number.” Sarah said as she sat down at the kitchen table and looked at Adrea shrugging her shoulders.
“Isn’t this Timberlake, Justin Timberlake’s phone number?” The lady asked Sarah’s heart stopped for a few seconds.
“Well, yeah this is Justin Timberlake’s phone number, but I’m sure you are trying to locate a different Justin Timberlake.” Sarah half laughed, she was nervous who was this woman claiming to have her soon to be husbands four year old daughter.
“UM, who is this? Not to sound rude and all, I did call you but what’s your name?” The lady on the other end asked
“Sarah Timberlake, Justin’s wife. Who are you and why are you claiming to have the child of my husband?” Sarah asked lying about the whole wife thing, she didn’t care she was getting married to him in two months, pregnant and fat, she wasn’t going to have kids with out being married.
“Oh… man, I think you should talk to your husband about that one. Have him tell you what happen four years ago. I just really need to talk to him, I’ll try back later.” And with that the lady hung up the phone leaving Sarah in a state of shock.
Adrea looked at Sarah and raised an eyebrow; she was staring off like she had just heard the worst news in the world. She snapped her fingers in front of Sarah’s face snapping Sarah out of her thoughts. Tears willed up in Sarah’s eyes as the thought about the phone call and Justin.
“What’s wrong? Who was on the phone?” Adrea asked a little freaked out that Sarah was about to cry.
Sarah raised her eyes to look at Adrea, though she couldn’t see her clearly the tears were blinding her vision. She sucked in her breath and willed the tears to go away, which didn’t listen.
“He’s got a child!” Sarah said tears falling freely from her eyes.
“Whose got a child? Sarah what are you talking about, who was on the phone?” Adrea asked taking Sarah into a hug.
“Justin… he… he has a four year old daughter.” Sarah cried not wanting to, her hormones were making her cry more then she would have if she weren’t pregnant. Adrea’s body stiffened and she pulled out of the hug to look at Sarah.
“Justin… your Justin has a four year old daughter?” Adrea asked shocked by the news.
Sarah stood up and whipped her tears away with her sleeve; she looked at Adrea and sniffled a few times taking a deep breath, trying to calm down a little more.
“Can you leave, please… I want to be alone please?” Sarah asked looking at Adrea
Adrea stood up and nodded her head; she gave Sarah a tight hug before she took Taylor and Tyler by their hands and walked them into the front room where Tiffany, Hailee, and Jonathan were all seated. Adrea figured she might as well have Jonathan come over even though JC didn’t want him over there, she knew the moment Justin walked through the front door there was going to be hell, and she didn’t want Jon to be there.
Sarah stood in the kitchen for a few minutes, she walked into the front room and tears started to fill her eyes again. She sat down on the couch, the cordless phone in her hand trying to think of what to say to Justin to get him home so she could yell at him and hate him even more. Before Sarah could even think of what to say to Justin, the phone rang and rang and rang until the answering machine picked up.
If it were Justin, she wasn’t ready to talk to him right then and there, her heart was racing as she listened to her voice and Justin’s voice.
“Hi, you’ve reached Sarah, and Justin Timberlake. We aren’t able to come to the phone at the present time, so please leave your name, number and the time you called and we will try to get back to you.” The beep was heard and it was she, the woman who had called half an hour earlier trying for Justin again. She left a message for him, stating her name, when she called and that he has to call her as soon as he gets the message.
Sarah sat there for a few more minutes before she picked up the phone and dialed Justin’s cell phone number. It rang a few times before he picked it up; music was playing in the background.
“Where are you?” Sarah’s voice was dull and full of tears.
“I’m about five miles from home, in my car at a stop light which was been red for the last five minutes trying to get home to see your beautiful face.” Justin’s smile could be seen through the phone as he pressed his foot down on the gas and speed off down the road making a few turns on to residential streets.
“We need to talk.” Was all Sarah said before she hung up the phone and dropped it on the couch, she grabbed the blanket that was hanging on the back of the couch and pulled it around her body?
She stopped crying long enough for her face to turn back to its normal color; still you could tell she had been crying. Justin’s car pulled up to the house and turned off, the beat to his music could be heard a block away. She sucked in her breath and held if while he walked in the house a smile on his face with a few bags from the mall. He leaned over the couch to kiss Sarah she on the other hand leaned out of the kiss as tears started to well up in her eyes.
Justin sat the bags down on the floor behind the couch and moved around the couch.
“What’s wrong?” he asked looking her over.
Sarah let her breath out slowly closing her eyes, she opened them again and almost started to cry again.
“Have… have you ever slept with anyone besides me?” Sarah sniffled not beating around the bush, she was to up set and hurt to beat around the bush.
Justin sat there looking at her; he was a little shocked that she said that to him. He swallowed hard and blinked a few times before finding some words.
“Once… like four years ago a few days after my 21st birthday….” Justin stopped when tears fill freely down his lovers’ face. He swallowed hard again and tried to finish. “It was a one night stand, I… I was getting so… we were getting so … UH, it’s just that with all the kissing and then us getting half carried away, I went to a club and… then... this woman, car… I didn’t even catch her…UH… name.” Justin stuttered biting his lower lip. He looked at Sarah waiting for her to say something, anything but she just sat there tears falling down her face.
“Why did you want to know? Is it a wedding thing or something?” Justin asked looking over Sarah’s face. He sat back when she shoved the blankets off of her body and stormed over to the answering machine, she turned the volume all the way up and pressed play.
‘You have one new message, received today at four-twenty PM.’ The answering machine sounded then beeped loudly in Justin and Sarah’s ear.
“Justin, Justin Timberlake… UH, this is Stephanie. You might not know my name we had a run in about four years ago in California at a club. Well, I really need you to call me it’s very important, it’s about what happened that night. My cell phone number is…” Stephanie went on to give Justin the cell number
Sarah glared at him as she grabbed the phone and dialed the number the woman had given Justin, after a few rings Stephanie picked up.
“Hello?” The woman asked pressing the phone to her ear; cartoons could be heard in the background.
Sarah threw the phone at Justin and stood with her arms over her chest watching him as he put the phone to his ear.
“UH, is this Stephanie?” Justin asked unsure of him self at the moment.
“This is she, may I ask who is calling?” Stephanie sat up; she knew the voice she just needed him to confirm it, she turned the cartoons on mute and put a finger up to her lips telling her daughter not to talk.
“Justin, Justin Timberlake… You called my house…” Justin trailed off looking at Sarah, she was now standing with another cordless phone up to her ear listening to them talk.
There was silence on the other end of the phone for a few minutes before she finely talked into it.
“I’m not going to beat around the bush here Justin. I have a four-year-old daughter her name is Amanda. She was born on November 28th at six in the morning…”
“What does this have to do with me?” Justin cut her off biting his lower lip
“She’s your daughter.” Was all the Stephanie got out before a little girl’s voice was heard in the background asking if that was her daddy on the phone?
Sarah’s heart fell and tears fell faster down her face as she turned off her phone and looked at Justin. He moved around on the couch when the little girl was handed the phone to talk to him.
“Hi daddy!” She smiled the biggest smile Stephanie had ever seen out of her daughter before.
“Hey Amanda.” Justin said turning his head to look where Sarah was standing she wasn’t there. He stood up and ran into the kitchen, finding nothing; he then slowly walked up the stairs.
“Mommy said that I’ll be able to see you when we got to Flory-duh.” Amanda giggled as she bounced her leg up and down.
“Oh really, when are you going to be in Florida?” Justin asked opening his bedroom door to see Sarah sitting on the bed lightly crying.
“I am already here silly.” She giggled thinking her father was a fool.
She didn’t know he had just learned about her, she didn’t know he didn’t want a kid by her mother. What she did know was that she got to talk to her father after four years and was now the happiest little girl on the face of the planet.
