Chapter 5

(Arco Arena, Sacramento, California, Thursday March 7th, 2002)

Shay walked down the hall her eyes were covered with dark tinted sunglasses, her hair was pulled up in a hair tie even though she was wearing a hat. "Justin, you have an appointment with Rolling Stones magazine in half an hour about your solo project." Shay's voice filled Justin's dressing room as she shut the door trying to make the noise from the band lesser.

Looking around the room, Shay noticed Justin wasn't even there. She had watched him walk in to the room less than five minutes before she decided to grace him with her hang over. Rolling her eyes, she started to walk to the door only to have loud music fill the room.

Justin walked up behind Shay, grabbing her by the arm he turned her around and pulled her close to his body and started to sway to the loud banging of Sum 41. "You make having a hang over look cute." Justin's voice was low, right next to her ear.

Shay closed her eyes, only wishing the loud noise that was giving her an even worse headache would go away and she wasn't wishing anything about the music. "You are hurting me." Shay's voice seemed soft as she pulled away from Justin and walked to the stereo where she stopped the music. "You have an appointment with one of the Rolling Stones writers. I think he is already here, watching the band do sound check." Shay finished what she had started when she first walked into the room as she flipped through the planner she had in her hands.

"You were right about Britney." Justin half laughed catching Shay off guard

"What do you mean I was right?" Shay asked as she crossed something off, "You also have to call your brother up and ask him about his T-ball game." She added looking up at him.

"She was cheating on me." Justin shrugged his shoulders sitting down on the couch as he looked up at Shay. "So I broke up with her this morning." Justin shrugged again chewing on his index finger.

Shay looked over at him and slowly sat down next to him on the couch. "Was it with Wade?" a small smile tugged at Shay's lips as she looked at him.

"What?" Justin asked a little shocked that she didn't ask him if he were okay with it, or if he wanted to actually talk about it.

"Was she banging Wade behind your back? I bet it was Wade. I could tell something was going on between them at the studio that one day." Shay laughed moving so that she was sitting on her knees on the couch.

Justin stared at her for a few seconds, still in shock. "I think it was Wade." His replied was so low that she could barely hear it.

"If I were her, I'd be doing him too. Have you seen the way that man dances? Makes any girls heart flutter, and their knees go weak. Not to mention his Australian charm." Shay's words ended abruptly with Justin's hand over her mouth.

"You aren't helping me here. I just broke up with the one girl I love, and you are sitting here talking about how badly you want to screw the man she was cheating on me with." Justin sighed dropping his hand from Shay's mouth as he leaned his head back on the couch.

"Well, you don't seem to broken up about it Justin, you were all over me last night if I do remember correctly, and you two hadn't even broken up yet." Shay noted as she stood up and started to walk towards the door.

"Correction, you were all over ME. I wasn't all over you, you were the one that grabbed my ass the first twenty minutes we were at the club." Justin shot getting up and walking behind her.

"Is that why JC had to pry you off of me?" Shay asked pulling open the door, and walking down the hall.

"That's what you wish happened. You were trying to rape me there; I was happy JC pulled you away from me. I can't just be going around having girls touch me in places that only Britney has touched, before I let the press know that we are no longer together." Justin replied trying to keep his cool over the situation.

Shay rolled her eyes as she rounded a corner, where she and Justin both ran into a very upset and hurt looking Britney Spears. "J, baby we need to talk about this." Her voice seemed worn as she started towards him.

"I have an interview in five minutes, I don't have the time to hear your crap right now." Justin glared stepping behind Shay and away from Britney.

"You did this to us. You told him to break up with me. What lies were you feeding him, what did you tell him to make him break up with me?" Britney half yelled taking a step closer to Shay, "You don't think I saw the pictures of you two last night, all over each other!" She added raising her hand and slapping Shay across the face.

Before Shay had the chance to react Justin pulled her back into his arms and started to walk towards the stage, making Shay walk with him. "Let go jackass!" Shay snapped trying to get out of Justin's arms, "Let me go Justin, let go!" A now yelling Shay snapped looking around Justin at Britney who was walking towards Justin's dressing room.

"If you raise a hand to her, she'll be suing you two ways to Sunday, so calm down before I have to take drastic measures." Justin calmly stated releasing her only to grab her arm and pull her through a door that led to the stage.

JC came walking towards them, Rain right behind him, being his shadow, "Justin, Britney is here she looked pretty upset." JC stated looking Shay over.

"Yeah, we know, my face met her hand." Shay glared up at Justin yanking her arm away from his hands.

"She slapped you and you didn't do anything?" JC asked turning around and following her.

Justin stood there staring after them, as they walked to the edge of the stage where they both slowly hopped off and sat down in the front row. His eyes slowly came to the girl standing in front of him with a smile on her face. "What?"

"So have you kissed her yet?" Rain asked causing Justin to roll his eyes and walked onto the stage.

"That question doesn't even need an answer, but since you are only twelve I'll help you. No, and No, I'm not going to kiss her." Justin stated hopping off the stage and helping Rain down.

"Why the hell not?" Rain's voice echoed through out the arena, causing everyone to stare at her. "Why not Justin? Just kiss her, trust me about this one. She wants you to kiss her; she has since before she started to work for you." Rain added only quietly this time.

"Rain, I'm not just going to go up to her, and lay one on her. It doesn't work like that, I am her boss, and she is employed by me. You don't date someone you work for or who works for you." Justin stated as he walked a little faster taking a seat next to the Rolling Stones journalist.

(Saturday, March 9th, 2002 San Diego)

The van, Justin and Erik were in slowly stopped in front of a two-story house in the suburbs of San Diego. Two cars were parked in the driveway; a red Honda parked in front of the house.

"You sure you want to do this?" Erik asked as they both got out of the van and started towards the front door.

"The last time she saw him was when she was three years old. I think he needs to go and see her, she needs that more than he does." Justin said trying to assure his self as well as Erik.

"What ever you say man, I'm here to guard your body from fans not from Shay." Erik smiled slightly as Justin knocked on the door three times loudly.

Slowly the door pulled open and a tall dirty blonde girl with a phone at her ear answered with an, "Oh my God, Justin Timberlake is at my door, I'll call you back later."

"Um, yeah, hi, is Mr. Addison home?" Justin asked looking up at Erik a little nervous.

"My dad? Yeah, I mean. yes he is here come in let me get your jacket." The girl smiled at both Erik and Justin.

"No I'll wear it." Justin chewed on his bottom lip as he and Erik walked into the foyer just beyond the front door.

"Okay, just make your selves at home, I'll go get him." The girl smiled even brighter as she ran out of the room yelling for her father.

Erik looked at Justin and snickered a little, "I told you this wasn't a good idea, I bet that girl is going to try and." Erik stopped his words with a dark headed man about six feet tall came walking towards them.

"Mr. Addison, I'm Justin Timber."

"I know who you are." Brad said as he shook Justin's hand, "Come this way, out of the foyer." He added as they walked down a hall way and into an office like type of room.

"I'm here to talk to you about your daughter." Justin stated as he and Erik took a seat on one of the couches.

"Amanda, isn't she a peach." Brad slowly stopped when Justin just stared at him.

"No, I'm here to talk to you about your daughter Shay." Justin's voice seemed to echo in the room while he looked at Brad Addison, the man that didn't want anything to do with his own family.

"I don't have a daughter named Shay. I only have a daughter named Amanda, I have two sons also. but not any more than that." Brad breathed pulling a cigarette out of the drawer and lit it up.

"You can't lie to me, why do you think I'm here? Shay works for me, she is your daughter." Justin's voice was raw almost emotionless.

"What do you want to know? Are you planning on marrying her, and want to know if there is some kind of cancer that runs in my family or if..." Brad's words ended when Justin stood up and leaned on the desk.

Justin grabbed the cigarette and put it out in the ashtray. "Come with me, I want you to meet the woman you want nothing to do with, and haven't saw since she was three." Justin's voice was low, anger flowing out of his eyes.

"I'm sorry, I can't just up and go with you to see someone, and leave my kids home alone." Brad stated as he stood up.

Justin sighed as he looked at Erik for a little help, not knowing if he should invite Brad and his three kids. He knew it would be hard for Shay to see her real father after eight-teen years of not knowing really who he was. It would be harder to see her half brothers and sisters as well as her father.

"Bring them with." Erik's voice sounded a little uneasy as he spoke.

"Yeah, they can meet her, and try to get to know her a little more. It may be hard, She's been working with me for three years, and I'm just now getting to know her a little more." Justin laughed a little nervous as Brad walked towards the door and out into the hallway.

Less than an hour later they all were on the elevator riding to the floor that Justin and the others were all staying on. Justin was sweating, not knowing if Shay would kill him in his sleep or not because of this. Justin pushed open his hotel door; he looked in than opened the door wider letting Brad, Amanda, Brad Jr. and Ryan-Scott into his room.

"I'll go get her, you just sit there and I'll be right back." Justin faked a smile giving Erik a look telling him not to let them near his stuff as he walked across the hall to Shay's room.

Justin knocked a few times before Shay opened the door wearing sweat pants and baggy *NSYNC shirt. "What do you want Justin? It's your free day, be free be away from me. Let me rest, I need to rest, I'm only twenty-one." Shay stiffed a yawn as Justin walked up to her grabbing the bottom of her shirt and started to lift it.

"You need to take this off." His voice was low as he started to raise it up further.

"What are you doing!" Shay asked stepping away from him and putting her arms around her stomach.

Justin rolled his eyes as he pulled open one of her suitcases and started to dig through it pulling out what she had worn on her birthday.

"Justin stop going through my dirty clothes, what is wrong with you!" Shay snapped pulling the clothes out of his hands and stuffing them back in the bag.

"You need to change, you can't wear that. You need to put something nice on, something to impress the hell out of these people." Justin noted pulling open another bag of hers as he started to dig through it. A smile formed on his lips when he pulled out a pair of black underwear. "Oh Shay, are you saving these for when I sex you up?" Justin asked in a girl voice.

"Give me those, and get out of my bags, I don't dig through your clothes." Shay snapped closing her eyes when Justin pulled a pair of his boxers out of her bag. "I wash our clothes together, I thought I gave you all your clothes back." She said in one breath as he stood up holding a black skirt and a long sleeved white dress shirt.

"I don't care if you have them, I bet they look good you on. Just put this on, and hurry. Brush your teeth while you change." Justin said pushing her into the bathroom as he handed her the clothes and shut the door. "Come over to my room, I'll give you five minutes before I come back over and walk into that bathroom." Justin added as he left the room and walked back over to his hotel room.

"So is he like dating Shay or is he still a free man after he and Britney Broke up?" Amanda's voice filled Justin's ears as he walked into the hotel room.

"Who I date, isn't the reason you are here." Justin commented as he rounded the corner so that he could see the beds that had Shay's family she never met before on them. "She'll be here in a few minutes." Justin added he hopes that she put some make up over the small bruise that had formed on her face after Britney smacked her.

Justin pulled open the hotel door for Shay whose hair was down and a little kinky after having it pulled up after her shower the night before. "Your mom called, I think she's a little upset that you broke up with Britney, she was yelling at me." Shay half laughed handing him his cell phone as she walked in but was held back before she could see that there were any other people in the room.

"Take a deep breath, and please don't hate me any more than you do." Justin whispered in her ear taking her arm and pulling her to see that her father and half brothers and sister were sitting in his hotel room.

All the air in Shay's lungs exited faster than it had ever left, her heart stopped for a second, and all the color in her face drained out as she looked at the three kids and grown man sitting on the bed. Amanda looked like her, only she had blonde hair, Ryan-Scott had her eyes, as did Brad Jr. Tears started to fill her eyes as she looked up at Justin, than to the man that gave her part of her life. The man that left her when she was to young to know any better, a man she actually hated with some sick and twisted passion, yet loved with all her heart.

She wasn't sure what she should do, she waited her whole life to meet her real father, and now that he was sitting in front of her, all she wanted to do was leave. She would have backed up but she couldn't Justin was right behind her, his hands on her shoulders.

"Shay." Her fathers voice echoed in her ears as he stood up, arms open for a hug.

A hug that she wanted to have but didn't want to have at the same time. Slowly her right hand came out and took his and shook it. She wasn't that easy, she was not going to give him a hug when he could have came and saw her.

"Hi." Her voice seemed weak as she left his hand go.

"Shay, this is Amanda, Ryan-Scott and Brad Jr." Justin said pointing out to each person in the room. "Guys, this is Shay. One of your fathers daughters from his first marriage." Justin added pushing Shay a little more into the room.
