The MOMS Club began in 1983 when an at-home mother from
California decided she was tired of being alone at home. She wanted to
meet other at-home mothers and she wanted to find other at-home children for
her children to play with. When she discovered there were no other
organizations that met during the day and allowed her to come with her baby
and preschooler, she decided to start a brand new organization just for
at-home mothers, and the MOMS Club was born.
MOMS Club of Mechanicsville, MD
The St. Mary's County chapter was started in November 1997,
and grew to 86 members. This expansion caused the chapter to sister
into three new chapters, including the MOMS Club of Mechanicsville, in July
2004. This formation of new, smaller chapters has allowed us to reach
out to more mothers in the north end of the county.
This first year has been an exciting time to establish our
roots. We started the year with 32 members and have already surpassed
60 members mid-year. We are excited about the fellowship of
stay-at-home mothers in our area. Our members are happy. Our
children are loved. We are looking forward to many more years of great
support.
