History of the International MOMS Club® We are one of the chapters of the International MOMS Club®, a non-profit, non-denominational organization for at-home mothers around the world. MOMS stands for MOMS Offering Moms Support. The MOMS Club® was started in 1983 by Mary James in Simi Valley, California. She wanted to meet at-home mothers like herself but couldn't find any organizations that met during the day and allowed her to come with her children. She decided to start her own organization for at-home mothers and the MOMS Club® was born. This chapter was so successful that she and some volunteers helped other mothers start MOMS Club® chapters in their own areas. It became a national organization in 1985 and now there are over 2,000 chapters across the country, several international chapters and membership exceeds 100,000 with new members joining and new chapters forming every day. |
