The Del Mar Fair runs for two weeks in June, followed by the Del Mar Thoroughbred racing season which continues through September. Legoland and Del Mar are both only 10 minutes from Encinitas by car. Downtown San Diego, La Jolla, Coronado Island, the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Balboa Park, and the San Diego Wild Animal Park are all within a 30 minute drive from Encinitas. Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure themeparks are approximately 55 miles north. The Encinitas Chamber of Commerce website provides many useful links to area attractions.

The San Diego area enjoys mild and sunny weather throughout the year. Temperatures rarely exceed 85 degrees, making it an ideal vacation destination year-round.
