Final Results from 2004 Playoffs  (see the complete year history here )

Hitmen  81

Assassins  60

Hooligans  72

Rynos  65

The Hitmen win their second championship in 3 years thanks to solid performances by LaDanian Tomlinson (close to 200 total yards and 2 touchdowns), Michael Clayton (66 yards and 2 touchdowns) and two players added in the final two weeks of the regular season - Mike Vanderjact posted 11 fantasy points and the Buffalo Bills posted 15+ fantasy points for the fourth straight week   This win came despite the Hitmen QB not playing.  Of course, the Assassins' QB did play and posted all of 0.2 fantasy points while the running tandem of the Assassins put up only 75 total yards combined. The Hooligans take down the Rynos in the final game despite leaving one roster spot empty.  That was still better than the Rynos who started one player that did not play (Onterrio Smith) and three players that combined for a grand total of 1.5 fantasy points (Jerry Rice, Byron Leftwich and Jimmy Smith).  The Hooligans put up a strong week lead by Mushin Muhammed's 115 yards and two touchdowns while Brett Favre threw for over 350 yards and three touchdowns.  The Hooligans hold off all other competition and are the highest scoring team in 2004.

SmackDownSister  82

Ketchup Hotdog  60

StiffArms  77

JYDs  64

SmackDownSister  picks up the 5th draft spot with a win in the finals week.  New acquisition Tony Gonzalez had his best game of the year with two touchdowns and almost 125 yards while Lee Evans also scored two touchdowns and both the Kicker and Defense scored 11 fantasy points.  Ketchup Hotdog came close but the injuries at the QB position hurt as the replacement Drew Bledsoe couldn't break 200 yards and only threw one touchdown. The StiffArms take the 3rd place slot in the consolation bracket with a win over the JYDs.  They had one of their best weeks of the year as five players posted double digit scoring.  They were lead by Daunte Culpepper's 3 touchdown 285 yard performance, and free agent pickup Larry Johnson put up close to 125 total yards and scored twice.  The JYDs really didn't have much hope as they were still trucking Mike Allstott out there in the starting lineup (Alstott has averaged 4 yards rushing over the past 3 weeks).

Marauders  63

Quiet Storm  60

PhatBacks  72

Chargers  35

The Marauders hold on to win as the Eagles defense puts up only 5 points on Monday night.  The Marauders got two touchdowns from their receivers, and both Ahman Green and Trent Green put up solid numbers (over 10 fantasy points each).  The star was the Miami Defense who allowed only 7 points and had two sacks and four take aways.  The QS made it very close with each receiver scoring a TD and the two running-backs averaging 9 fantasy points, but it fell just short as the Eagles blew up on Monday night. The PhatBacks cream the Chargers in the finals by more than doubling their score.  A fantastic week by Ruben Droughns who scored three touchdowns and had over 120 yards lead the way, while free agent acquisition Sebastian Janikowski hit 3 FGs from over 40 yards.  The Chargers continued to truck out Chris Brown who was placed on the IR earlier in the month and also got a goose-egg from both David Patten and the Tampa Bay Defense.

New Records Set

This year we set a number of new records:

League MVP

Please vote for your selection of the league's MVP

Who was the 2005 MVP?
Peyton Manning - PhatBacks - Manning is putting up one of the best seasons ever for a QB in the NFL, and has shattered the records set in our fantasy league.  He scored 228 points over our 16 week season (including playoffs) despite sitting for 2 quarters of games he had already won.  He scored double-digit points in all but 2 games and scored more than 20 points three times.  He also accounted for 24% of the PhatBacks total scoring.
Daunte Culpepper - StiffArms - If it weren't for Peyton, Culpepper would have set the record for QB points in a season in our league.  He scored 215 fantasy points (only 13 points behind Manning) and scored double-digit points in 10 games, including 5 games with 20 or more points.
Terrell Owens - Hooligans - In his 14 weeks, Owens posted 142.8 points to lead all receivers.  He had double-digit games 8 times including two games with over 20 points.
Shaun Alexander - Rynos - Shaun Alexander had 197 points for the year (including playoffs) which was tops in the league.  He had 10 weeks of double digit scoring, half of which were over 20 points.
LaDanian Tomlinson - Hitmen - Tomlinson was edged out by Alexander after scoring 194 points for the year (including playoffs).  He had 11 double digit scoring games but only one over 20 points (ironically the week of the finals).  He also scored a touchdown in every game except one, including a 12 game stretch to close out the year.
Tiki Barber - Ketchup Hotdog - "Marshall Faulk Lite" put up the 4th best numbers by a RB in the league despite fading at the end of the year.  He had 173 fantasy points over 16 weeks, but had 3/4 of those points as of week 10 (average 13 points per week) before Manning became QB and Barber's numbers fell to only 7.3 per week.  Barber still put up 10 games with double digit points.  He was also only $9
Curtis Martin - Hooligans - Curtis Martin had to carry the load for the Hooligans, and at 31 years old put up the best year of his career.  He had 8 games over 10 points, but also had six games of 5 or less points.
Antonio Gates - Rynos - Steal of the Draft.  Gates posted one of the best seasons for a Tight End in the history of the NFL, and was by far and away the best fantasy TE.  He outperformed Tony Gonzalez by 30% and almost doubled the points of the next closest TE.  He had 126 points over the season including playoffs and had five games with double-digit points.  From mid-season on, he scored a touchdown in all but 2 games (excluding byes)
Adam Vinitiari - Assassins - Vinitiari was the most consistent kicker in the league, posting a total of 152 points (36% more than the average kicker in the league).
Buffalo Defense - Hitmen - Normally I don't include a free agent pickup in the MVP voting, and while the Buffalo Defense wasn't a top defense over the year, the time they spent on the Hitman's roster was a major contributor to their championship run.  Over the last 4 weeks of the season (when on the Hitman roster), the Buffalo Defense scored 62 points, outperforming the next closest Jacksonville (KH - 42 points) and Atlanta (PhatBacks - 37 points) by an average 57%.  They had 3 straight weeks of 20+ points and never scored less than 15.

Should Divisional Records apply to seeding - I had asked earlier about this, and got 4 votes for a change (2 more dramatic than this) and 4 votes against a change.  I want to see what you say about only the moderate change.  Currently divisional records only apply as the 3rd tie breaker (first record, then points, then divisional record).
No - keep it the same as it is now
Yes - Seed the teams the following year based on the Divisional Record as a tie breaker
