Last week of the regular season!!!
Last week to drop players without a penalty carried into next year!!!

Playoff Picture:

NFL - Rynos have clinched. A win this week gives them the "Best record" prize as well
CFL - Assassins have clinched; a win this week coupled with a Ryno loss gives them a share of the "Best Record" prize
XFL - If the Hitmen win, they win the XFL; if they lose by more than 11 points vs. SDS, then SDS will win the XFL UNLESS the Hooligans beat the Quiet Storm, in which case the Hooligans will win the XFL.

Wildcard - The Hooligans have an 82 point lead here, so if they lose their game or if the Hitmen win, then the Hooligans will win the wildcard. If the Hooligans win and the Hitmen lose vs. SDS, then the door is open to all other teams. The Hitmen would lead by 11 over SDS who lead KH by 9 who lead the StiffArms by 16.

Lottery Bracket - As of today, it looks like the Quiet Storm, Marauders, Chargers and PhatBacks will be in the lottery bracket with KH being a long shot to be in if they are outscored by one of those teams by about 70 points.

Week 14 Match-ups

Hitmen (8-5) vs SmackDownSister (7-6)
***Matchup of the week***  The Hitmen have their destiny in their hand and with a win over SDS they can claim the XFL title. A loss to the Hitmen will knock SDS out of the playoffs for sure. The Hitmen's top player to watch is Julius Jones who has been averaging 24 fantasy points since starting, and this week will be playing the pathetic New Orleans defense. SDS has been leaving dozens of points per week on the bench, but have been able to win with the way Donnovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook are playing.
Marauders (5-8) vs StiffArms (8-5)

The Marauders are jockeying for seeding in the first round of the lottery bracket, and will have to outscore both the Chargers and PhatBacks this week to take the top seed. A win would also help greatly. The StiffArms are playing for the wildcard, and will have to score about 40 points more than most other teams and need the Hooligans and SDS to win to get the wildcard. This week the Marauders will have Ahman Green back playing against the Detroit Defense while the StiffArms can expect a big week from their Denver Defense who are playing against the Dolphins offense (guaranteed defensive touchdown week).

Chargers (5-8) vs Rynos (10-3)

The Chargers are in the same boat as the Marauders, and are playing to move into the top seed in the lottery bracket while the Rynos need a win to take sole possession of the top record prize. The Chargers will have the oft-injured Chris Brown and Derrick Mason playing against the terrible Chiefs defense while the Rynos have their Baltimore Defense playing against the hapless New York Giants defense (averaging just over 7 points since Eli Manning took over at QB).

Assassins (9-4) vs JYDs (7-6)

The Assassins need a win to have a chance at the top record, and face one of the coldest teams in the league. Since losing Priest Holmes, the JYDs have gone from averaging 64 points all the way down to 45 points (worst in the league). The Assassins have Chester Taylor (or Jamal Lewis) playing against a very weak New York Giants Defense while the JYDs will be forced to start the RB tandem of Warrick Dunn and Mike Allstott (unless they pick someone up).

Ketchup Hotdog (6-7) vs Phatbacks (5-8)
Ketchup Hotdog has almost played themselves out of a playoff birth with 3 losses in their last four games coupled with a league low 38 points last week, and will now need a lot of help to make it into the playoffs. The return of Randy Moss has been a real disappointment as he has averaged only 3.7 fantasy points per week while most other receivers on their roster have exceeded that. The PhatBacks need a win and some good points to face the Quiet Storm in the first round of the Lottery Bracket and have Mr. 3-quarters Manning against the Houston Texans.

Hooligans (7-6) vs Quiet Storm (1-12)

The Hooligans need a win and a Hitman loss to claim the top spot in the XFL after leading for most of the year. However, even if they do lose, their playoff spot is almost guaranteed unless they have a total melt-down in the last week of our regular season. They have lost two games in a row for the first time since early in the season despite averaging over 75 points a week. This week could be tough as they have their top two players (Terrell Owens and Curtis Martin) up against very solid defenses. The Quiet Storm has locked up their position and look to have a number of very good match-ups especially the Phili Defense playing against the league's worst offense - the Washington Redskins.

Poll

We do track divisional records, but don't really use them for anything.  Officially they are the 2nd tiebreaker (i.e. first tiebreaker is total points, second is divisional record) but it is very unlikely that two teams with exactly the same record will get exactly the same number of points over the first 14 weeks.  We could give additional importance to the divisional records by having it count to be the first tie-breaker in determining the playoff seeding, or we could have it only count towards seeding teams for 2005.  What do you think?

Should Divisional Records come into play?
Yes - Should be the 1st playoff tiebreaker & determine next year's seeding
Should only count to next year's seeding (starting 2005)
No - keep it for fun only.

Week 14 Results (finals)

Hitmen 106

SmackDownSister 70

StiffArms 54

Marauders 47

Rynos 94

Chargers 67

The Hitmen turn in one of their strongest performances of the year to take the XFL title in the last week.  Six players had double-digit performances lead by the Buffalo Defense who allowed only 7 points while sacking the QB 8 times and forcing 5 turnovers. SDS will be the #2 seed in the consolation bracket. The StiffArms pull off a win thanks to Clinton Portis' 100+ yard & 2 touchdown performance.  They will be the top seed in the consolation bracket.  The Marauders came up short as their team failed to score a single touchdown and no receiver broke 50 yards. The Rynos claim the best record of the year with a win over the Chargers.  They had six players score double digits lead by Willis McGahee who had over 100 yards and two scores and the Baltimore Defense that allowed only 8 points but forced six turnovers and added 2 sacks.  The Chargers end their season with a loss and tie the Marauders' worst-place record in the NFL.

Assassins 57

JYDs 52

PhatBacks 61

Ketchup Hotdog 54

Hooligans 63

Quiet Storm 33

The Assassins get a win, but fail to share the best record as a result of the Ryno win.  The Assassins got a solid performance from both Reggie Wayne and Charles Johnson who each scored a TD and had over 80 yards receiving.  The JYDs fall short without their top runnigbacks, although the Pittsburgh defense performed well allowing 13 points and forcing 3 turnovers. The PhatBacks end the season with a win and take the top seed in the Lottery Bracket as a result.  Eddie Kennison won it for them on Monday night as he put up over 60 yards and found the endzone twice.  KH can write this season off faltering after a great start.  They end the season middle of the pack, although they could have claimed a win this week if they had started Drew Bennett during his record setting performance (233 yards and 3 TDs). The Hooligans fall one win short of the XFL title, but claim the wildcard with a win over the Quiet Storm.  Jerome Bettis once again lead their team in scoring putting up only 67 total yards, but scoring two touchdowns (one passing, one rushing).  The Quiet Storm had already locked up their spot in the playoffs, so this loss didn't mean anything for them.
