Week 6 Match-ups

StiffArms (3-2) vs Ketchup Hotdog (3-2)

***Matchup of the week***  Two #2 teams meet in week 6 and both are trailing their undefeated division leader.  The StiffArms have scored only 8 points less than the Rynos over 5 weeks, yet are 2 games behind them in the standings.  This week their star Daunte Cullpepper goes up against the 21st ranked Defense, and should have an easy game.  Unfortunately for him, Culpepper's favorite target Randy Moss plays for KH.  This will be a close game and the result could determine the future of the two teams.

Marauders (0-5) vs SmackDownSister (2-3)

The Marauders go from taking on the league's top scoring team to taking on the league's lowest scoring team (although they have only outscored SDS by 8 points).  This week the Marauders will be without their franchise player Edgerin James and will have to hope that Ahman Green finds some form of life after averaging just over 50 rushing yards with no scores for the past 3 weeks.  SmackDownSister will have their entire team back together as McNabb goes up against the Panthers and Domanick Davis faces the inspired Tennessee Defense.
Chargers (2-3) vs Quiet Storm (0-5)
Rob was away from the internet last week and registered his first win since the first week.  Chances are he'll be away this week again as he looks to get to .500 while taking on one of the two winless teams.  The Chargers will be without Marvin Harrison this week but has his Tennessee Trio going into Houston to take on the Texans who rank 7th last overall.  The Quiet Storm almost got a win last week and looks like they'll have some great chances this week as Pennington & Coles go up against one of the worst teams in the NFL (the 49ers).

Rynos (5-0) vs  JYDs (3-2)

The Rynos are cruising so far this year and remain undefeated with the 3rd highest points scored in the league.  This week they'll face the 5th highest scoring team who dropped out of the top 2 last week.  The Rynos will have a tough game as Brady goes up against one of the best teams in the NFC, Shaun Alexander faces one of the best defenses in the NFL, and Travis Henry faces the a solid run defense in the Miami Dolphins.  The JYD's get Priest Holmes back as he goes up against a surprisingly weak Jacksonville defense and Marshall Faulk takes on the average Tampa Bay Defense.

Assassins (5-0) vs Hitmen (2-3)

The Assassins look to keep their win streak going against the luckless Hitmen.  This will be made harder as they lose Jamal Lewis for 3 weeks (Bye + Suspension) and will have to start backup William Green at Running back this week.  But with Fred Taylor going against the weak Kansas City Defense and Aaron Brooks passing against the worst defense in the league, he may not need Jamal's production.  The Hitmen really need a win to move ahead in the XFL and need Jake Plummer to have a good game throwing to their tandem Rod Smith and Ashley Lelie.
Phatbacks (2-3) vs Hooligans (3-2)
The PhatBacks lost a close one last week, and have fallen to last place in the CFL while becoming a serious contender for fewest points scored.  The trade for Quentin Griffin is looking worse and worse as it now appears he has lost his job entirely after putting up only 3.6 fantasy points over 2 weeks.  They have tried to rectify that by adding Reuben Droughns this week.  They have a lot of holes this week too as their star Peyton Manning is on a bye but with a lot of players going up against weak defenses, they may have a shot.  The Hooligans had a fantastic comeback on Monday night to take first place in the XFL, and will probably have a great week this week with match-ups against San Diego, Minnesota, Detroit and San Fransico.

Week 6 Results (Preliminary Finals)

StiffArms 81

Ketchup Hotdog 53

Marauders 53

SmackDownSister 47

Chargers 76

Quiet Storm 51

The StiffArms win their 5th in a row to remain one game behind the Rynos in the NFL by knocking off last week's point leading KH.    For the second week in a row, Daunte Culpepper posted more than 20 fantasy points with over 400 yards passing and five touchdowns.  Corey Dillon had a good game for KH as he racked up over 100 yards and two scores for the Pats. The Marauders finally eek out their first win of the season.  The Marauders barely won thanks to a Michael Pittman touchdown.  They needed 25 yards out of Pittman without a fumble, and Pittman only managed 53 yards with a fumble, but a first quarter touchdown gave the Marauders the points needed.  Jake Plummer threw for close to 200 yards and 3 touchdowns.  SDS's Brian Westbrook finally found the end-zone to go along with close to 100 yards, but the bye-week fill-in of the Lions Defense cost them the game as they generated -1 point (32 points allowed, and not a single sack or take-away). The Chargers spend another weekend away from Toronto, and notch their second win in a row.  Rob vowed that if his team won when he was away again, he would stay away, and I think we all agree that that's a good thing for Toronto!  His team came up huge on Sunday night as Marcus Robinson hauled in 2 touchdown catches and Deuce McCalister rushed for two TDs in the Sunday night game.  The Quiet Storm almost had this one in the bag until that, thanks to the Eagles Defense almost blanking the Panthers with only 8 points allowed, 2 sacks, 4 interceptions and a defensive touchdown.

Rynos 80

JYDs 57

Assassins 63

Hitmen 59

Hooligan 77

PhatBacks 54

The Rynos remain undefeated thanks to the "mistake" start of Byron Leftwich and Willis McGaheeLeftwich only posted close to 300 yards passing, 2 passing touchdowns, 25 rushing yards, a rushing score and a two point conversion for a total of 21 fantasy points while McGahee had over 140 yards of offense against a very good Miami defense.  I wish I could make mistakes like that...but no - the only mistake I make is trading away a stud RB for an injured receiver on a pathetic offensive team... but I digress....  The JYDs were no match this week where only Priest Holms broke double-digit fantasy points with a notch over 100 yards and a touch-down. The 3rd annual Tanos Bowl goes to the Assassins for the 2nd year in a row (the Hitmen won the first two meetings in 2002, so the record is 2-2).  Aaron Brooks finally had a good game for the Assassins with close to 250 yards passing and 2 touchdowns (1 passing, 1 rushing) while the Patriot Defense intercepted the Hitmens' QB twice and held them to only 20 points.  The Hitmen had a strong game from  Torry Holt who had close to 125 yards and two touchdowns, but it was one TD too short for the comeback. The Hooligans win their second in a row and pull 2 games ahead of their division rivals with a solid win over the PhatBacks.  Once again, the 72 year old Curtis Martin carried the team with over 130 yards and two touchdowns, and the fat man Bettis rushed for another touchdown on 3 caries (Bettis now has 7 touchdowns on 37 caries this year).  The PhatBacks finally got a good game out of their Denver Running back, but it was Ruben Drones that posted 180 yards and a touchdown.
