Sept. 30, 2001
My summer of tennis has come to a close and
I feel it was very good. My ranking moved some 150 spots and I won
many matches. I had a lot of good wins and gained a lot of confidence
from some of my results. You could say that it was a breakthrough of sorts,
but I still have a ways to go. My goal for one year was to get to
250 and I eclipsed that in July!! After the US Open I spent three weeks
in Tampa, FL training and improving my skills to ready myself for another
solid run of tournaments this fall. My goal is to move between 120
and 160 in the world by my last tournament at the end of November. That
is setting my sights high, but I think it is very realistic for me.
I’ve worked on improving my volleys and my forehand. I’ve also made
great strides in my strength and flexibility. In working with Ian
Duvenhage (coach) and Dave Herman (trainer), I feel very prepared and ready
to play!! So keep up with my results this fall! Thanks again
for everyones’ support and encouragement. -JEFF
