Statement Of Intent

We need to retain all artistic control... This means that what we create goes, we don't construct or plan our songs, they evolve almost independantly.  Therefore we are unable to write to order, so there's no point in demanding that we do.  We also require the final say so and full input into all artwork, photographs etc. - but we will not be afraid to ask for outside inspiration if we feel it to be necessary.

To record simply, cheaply and as quickly as is feasible is our aim.  Fancy, pricey studios don't do it for us, nor do name producers or albums that take years to record and multi-layer to death.  We have short attention spans, too much nervous energy, and are too mean to sit back and watch as money is flushed needlessly away.  Same goes for any potential video forays the future may hold for us - In fact, the same goes for anything we might do.

Live appearances must be selective (we're not a band that will stay on the road for years at a time).  Our music is such that the setting must be right,
there's no way we can get away with being lumped next to the latest rap metal sensation or jangly indie bores, no-onee will leave happy.

Ultimately we want to be able to get on and make the albums we've been writing all these years.  We want our music to be heard, but not at any cost - we're not about to sit back placidly while others make money hand over fist and we're still working crap jobs.  We don't need Ferraris or mansions - a living would be nice.  Ideally we'd take a future recording budget and build a small home studio, thus slashing later recording costs to the bone, but for now anywhere basic where we can get our first batch of songs down more or less live will suit us just fine.

We are, quite simply, cheap.  Minimum band personnel, precious little equipment (by most bands standards) and an overwhelming desire for frugality and lack of financial wastage.  We make music because we
have to, the need for this release of self expression  would burn holes right through us  if we tried to contain it, but we don't need meaningless status symbols - just give us the means to create the live feel of Mazzy Star or 'Dry' era PJ Harvey, and we'll be content.  And pay us fairly, without straining off absurd amounts of money to pay for excessive extravegences when simplicity and clean minimalism would suffice.

And that's it.  All pretty undramatic and logical, really.  We're never going to be stereotypical rock stars or top 5 pop star, we're doing what we do, and we don't know any other way to do it.  Uncluttered, unfussy, straight to the point - beautiful, affecting and utterly unaffected...
