Waxing
The moon waxes larger. From the New Moon or Dark Moon until the Full Moon, it is waxing in the sky. While the moon is growing is a good time to concentrate upon new projects and growth. At the beginning of the waxing process is a good time to craft for beginnings and growth. Just before the Moon is Full is the best time to focus on fruition of plans and completion.

The Full Moon
The moon spends three days appearing full in the sky, although it is only truly full at the time specified to the left. This is a favorite time for ritual and spellcraft.

Waning
The moon wanes smaller. From the Full Moon until the Dark Moon, it is waning in the sky. While the moon is shrinking is a good time to concentrate upon making negative influences shrink. Remove obstacles and harm. The Dark Moon is the best time for neutralizing or banishment. Waning can also be a useful phase for a time for personal introspection.

The Dark Moon
For three days the moon disappears in the sky. A good time to investigate the self.

If you are interested in seeing the current status of the moon http://phase.moontribe.org/ has a fabulous and simple display.
