In 1999 Turner announced that in addition to Mellings
primary
sponsor, Cartoon Network. That there would be two more
sponsors that would paint the car in selected races. Those
two sponsors were TBS Superstation/Atlanta Braves and
WCW World Championship Wrestling. Thats where this car came
in. WCW had already had one design before this one
featuring the nWo. But this one was the second design and and primary design of the WCW. The car was revealed at Talledega Super Speedway, and was made to reveal the
WCW's new look. This car really caught a lot of eyes, being one of the neatest designs to ever be on the #9 Ford. The car was a shiny silver with some back on the sides, and red flames below and above the 9 on the side. The hood featured the New WCW Logo, and behind the rear tire there was text that read "World Championship Wrestling". On the TV Pannel was a promotion for WCW's official website, WCW.COM . You
can check out pictures of this car at the WCW #9 Picture Section.
This was also a chance for WCW to be introduced to
some NASCAR fans, so WCW said that when ever the WCW #9 raced that weekend one of the WCW Superstars would come and spend a weekend at the track with Jerry. So far the wrestlers that have went with Jerry have been Disco Inferno
and Buff Bagwell which have both been with the nWo
Wolf Pack, which brought up a whole new stratagy of racing. Both wrestlers brought with them, a stuffed mascott of
the nWo Wolf Pack, a little wolf pup named Pokey.
Disco brought it first to Talledega and put it in the car with Jerry. That same race Jerry got his best career finish, 8th place! After the race Disco said that it was the
lucky wolf pup responsible for Jerry's good finish.
So now they bring the wolf pup to all the WCW races. The only tracks Jerry has raced the WCW #9 at is Dover
Downs International Speedway and Michigan. The WCW #9's best finish was 8th at Talledega. It was a good car and it had some good races. It was a car that I bet Jerry was proud to drive, not to mention it the last car that Jerry drove for #9
Melling Racing Team.
