Way back when, my parents joined up as station wagon owners back in the early 60's when they bought their 1959 Plymouth Custom Suburban wagon, many a story have I heard about my dad and quite a few of his buddies hitting the town, cruising in his wagon. (Much thanks to Ron Kowalke and his book "Station Wagon: Tribute to America's Work-a-holic on Wheels" for having a picture of this wagon so I could finally figure out the year and model.)
But luckily, the trend in my family did not die there. In the early 70's, a new behemoth graced the driveway of the Erickson household...
With myself (front and far right) in pre-school and my brother (rear and far left) in elementary school, the only choice for hauling around us and our young friends the choice was clear, a big green Chevy wagon!(I'm thinking it was kharma, that my first wagon that I rode in was green, only to find out 20 some years later that the first wagon I would buy would be large and green also)
