However, we do the best with what we have, and we are not that far from some supreme riding areas in the province of Quebec. Blue Mountain is a great place for downhill in Southern Ontario. Roughly an hour and a half North of Toronto, it is Southern Ontario's largest ski area, and one of it's best downhill mountain biking areas as well. Check out Blue's biking webpage at http://www.bluemountain.ca/mtnbike.htm. The downhill trails used to be accessed by a trailer-equipped van which shuttles riders to the top, but now there is gondola operating with bike racks to take riders to the top. Bromont, Quebec, is one of the best downhill mountain biking areas in Eastern Canada. The numerous trails are accessed by chairlift, and feature everything from mild freeride trails to hardcore World Cup downhill runs. Bromont is located near the town of Granby, Quebec, Southeast of Montreal. Check out http://www.skibromont.com/en/velo-accueil.asp for more info. For cross-country riding in the Southern Ontario area, Durham Regional Forest provides many kilometres of legal trails for all skill levels. About 45 minutes to an hour Northeast of Toronto, Durham Regional Forest is located East of Coppins Corners (Brock Road and Durham Road 21 [just south of Bloomington Road]) at Durham Road 21 and 7th Concession Road on the South East corner (you have to drive South a bit to get to the parking areas). Ravenshoe is a cool little riding area Northeast of Newmarket that contains many trails and even some ladder bridges and teeter-totters. Located at Ravenshoe Rd. and McCowan Rd., the best way up there from Toronto is up the 404 to Davis Dr., East on Davis to Hwy. 48, North on 48 to Ravenshoe Rd., East on Ravenshoe to McCowan Rd., and South on McCowan to the dirt parking lot on the right. Whew... The map at right shows just how many trails there are at Ravenshoe in such a small area. The thick dashed line at the top of the map is Ravenshoe Rd., and the thick dashed line on the right hand side of the map is McCowan Rd.; the "P" in the square on the right side is the parking lot described in the directions given above. For urban riding in the Toronto core, there is a semi-organized Wednesday night urban ride that meets at the Skydome. Dropmachine has a ride post where you can check out when and where people will meet. Also, Suburban Ghetto Racing has a great little map on their website in the "Toronto" section showing some of Downtown Toronto's better urban riding spots. A.S. sent me an e-mail about the Buckwallow Cycling Centre in Muskoka with the following message: 'Here is a great XC Riding Park in Muskoka to add to your Rides Page: http://www.mtbreview.com/trails/Canada-Ontario/BuckWallowCyclingCenter.html'. Riding Spots

Highway rock drop at Blue Blue Mountain is a great place for downhill in Southern Ontario. Roughly an hour and a half North of Toronto, it is Southern Ontario's largest ski area, and one of it's best downhill mountain biking areas as well.
