Kevin's VW Stuff

Ok, I am working some what on my page again. The new engine I built two years ago for my 68 type one,(New case, cam, Mahle 87 PC's, New 041 MOFOCO heads and all the other goodies) is out on the floor. I pulled the heads to fix the oil leaks from the push tubs to find out that the MOFOCO heads look like there is something wrong in the exhaust ports. There's pitting around the part that holds the valve guides in on all four. I am mailing them back finally to MOFOCO. I gave them a buzz on the phone and they are willing to take a look to see whats happing to them. I also reminded them that these heads leak around the valve cover openings to. I had a Master Mechanic take a look for himself and he believe what is causing this is the super springs. My wife's 75 Bus engine has to be pulled due to a oil leak from the breather tower plus we have to replace the shifter bushing in the tunnel. Bummer. The 89 VW Fox I bought for $300.00 is on the road again with her trans rebuilt by Rancho Performance Trans. Till next time!!
