January 1994: Introduction of the berline. It was available with the 1.8 8V (F3P) and the 2.0 8V (F3R) engines and the PRV V6 engine (Z7X).
October 1994: Introduction of the atmospheric 2.2 Diesel engine (G8T).
March 1995: 2.0 S 16V Volvo engine (N7Q) available.
Autumn 1995: Introduction of the Break.
March 1996: The 2.2 Turbo Diesel engine (G8T) becomes available.
June 1997: New V6 engine (L7X).
April 1998: Facelift and new engines: 1.6 16V (K4M) and 1.9 dTi (F9Qt). The 1.8 8V and 2.2 D are discontinued, however, the 1.8 8V stays available in the LPG version.
The automatic transmission is replaced by the all new «proactive» transmission,
developped and built in cooperation with PSA. This transmission is coupled, as before to the 2.0 8v engine.
September 1998: The 2.0 8V engine with manual gearbox is replaced by a 1.8 16V (F4P). The Automatic is stays available with the 2.0 8V.
September 1999: New 2.0 16V engine (F4R) to replace the Volvo 2.0 16V.
November 1999: New 1.9 dCi (F9Qt) diesel engine to replace the 2.2 Turbo Diesel.
2001: The Laguna is replaced by the ... Laguna II.
The Laguna stays in production for a little while for some none-european markets, like South-America.
