Changes made to the R6 over the years

1968
October 1968: Introduction of the R6 R1180. This car had the 845 cm³ Billancourt engine.

1970
October 1970: Introduction R6 R1181 with 1108 cm3 Cléon engine.
Some changes to this car in comparison to the 850:
  • 1108 cm3, 33 DIN-kW engine
  • Alternator instead of dynamo
  • Disc brakes on front wheels
  • Electrical driven fan, with thermo switch
  • Handbrake on rear wheels instead of front wheels, new type handbrake handle under dashboard.
  • New gearbox, (now 1-2 and 3-4 in line)
  • Speedometer graded to 150 km/h instead of 140 km/h
  • Perforated disc wheels, instead of non-perforated
  • Extra air inlet on front, below the grille, the number plate is now placed on the bumper.
