In Norse mythology, Var was the goddess of marriage and contracts from whom nothing could be hidden because she was so wise. She listens to the vows and compacts made by men and woman with each other (those agreements were called varar). She takes vengeance on those who break their vows. She was the goddess of faithfulness between man and woman.
