Mr. Belvedere plans a trip to England,
where he is to receive an award from the Queen. Marsha, after first
trying to keep it secret, tells the family that she thinks she may be pregnant
and is awaiting word from her doctor. Marsha doesn't want a child
at this time in her law school career. Mr. Belvedere assigns the children
to each write an essay about why they want to accompany him to England.
The writer of the best essay will be chosen.
Marsha is relieved to hear that
the pregnancy test is negative. Wesley overhears Marsha say that having
Wesley delayed her career plans by ten years. Mr. Belvedere selects Kevin
as the winning essayist because he felt it was the one that was most honest.
Learning that Wesley overheard
her comment, Marsha tries to apologize. Wesley doesn't believe she's sincere,
and decides to run away.
Leaving early the next morning, Wesley goes to the bus depot, but finds
he doesn't have enough money for a ticket. Wesley tries to get a job at
the burger stand inside the depot, but the owner/waitress at first refuses,
but relents when she finds how charming Wesley can be. She lets him work,
and tells him that she believes any family would be crazy not to love him.
As Kevin and Mr. Belvedere prepare
to leave, Heather rushes down from Wesley's room with Wesley's farewell
letter in her hand. After searching throughout the city, the
family discovers Wesley at the bus depot. Marsha fails once again
to convince Wesley of her feelings, so Mr. Belvedere advises her to just
tell the truth. Marsha finally tells Wesley that she never really wanted
him, and that she was disappointed when she found out she was pregnant
with him. But as she got to knew him, she grew to love him. Hurt but convinced,
Wesley falls into her mother's arms.
Mr. Belvedere and Kevin miss their
flight to England, but figure it is all for the best.
Waitress - Karen Caye

In this episode, we find out that
Wesley was an unplanned pregnancy. In "Vows" (Season 2 Episode 6), we learned
that Kevin was an unplanned pregnancy as well.
I thought that this was a very nice
episode where we learned a lot about the background of the Owens Family.
This is one of several episodes where Mr. Belvedere was sought out by the
British Loyal Family. It appears that he is still very much wanted there,
and it may be puzzling why Mr. Belvedere still chooses to work for the
Owens family. It may only go to show how interesting Mr. Belvedere finds
them to be.
