Dräger
drysuit and ozygen-rebreathers |
|
|
The Navy Seal-teams is one of the
users of the Dräger Oxygen-Rebreathers, this
type works with a Lime-filled filter, which
cleans the 'used' air from CO2, and then Oxygen
is added from a bottle, before the diver use the
air again. Because of this construction,
Oxygen-Rebreathers are only safe to use on a
depth up to 7 meters, on deeper water the oxygen
becomes toxic. |
Rescue
divers from the 60's |
In the 60's the drysuit now
looks very much the drysuit of today, the suit
have got a loose latex hood with neck ring . The
only things there is missing, is the waterproof
zipper and valves. |

Old
style Viking Drysuits from the 70's |

Pictures of the 'good old'
classic Viking Drysuits,
the suits are all from before the watertight
shoulder zipper was made the standard, the entry
in the suit was therefor don through the neck
seal, the neck seal was made so width and elastic
that 2 person was able to width the seal so the
diver could crawl into the suit. The suit was
then made watertight with a neck ring and a latex
hood, just like the latex hoods used on suits
today. The black lines on the suits is
reinforcement over the suit-joints. On the
rightmost picture the diver use a AGA Divator
Mk1 - full face mask. |
