My Darling Angela

Ring ... ring ... ring ...
T: Hello!
Angela: Terry! Terry! Is that you!
T: Yes my love, what's the matter?
Angela: Something hit the building ... I think it was a plane!
T: Where are you?
Angela: I'm at the World Trade Center ... the observation desk ...
T: What? What are you doing there?
Angela: I just wanted to see the view.
T: Well get down, now!
Angela: Okay, but I'm scared.
T: Just get down, now!
Angela: Okay, honey, I love you!

That was the last I heard of her voice
Coming frightened over the phone
It had woken me in the hotel
I did not even know she was gone
That was just like Angela,
She would wake early,
Leave me sleeping, like on that morning,
Go out early to shop or explore.
It was the last I heard of her sweet voice.
And I did not even know at the time
Of the danger to tell her, goodbye.

Ring ... ring ... ring ...
Every time the phone rings now
I imagine it is Angela calling from Heaven.
Usually is is just someone selling something.
Solicitors peddling, buy this, buy that.
I just wish there were a phone line to Heaven
So I could call Angela and tell her
I love you my darling,
I always will keep loving you.

Ring ... ring ... ring ...
The phone keeps ringing inside my mind
Over and over I see the planes
On CNN crashing into the Twin Towers.
Then I hear voices, cries, screams,
One of them is Angela,
"Oh God, help! Help! Help!
The the towers come tumbling down
And Anglea is swallowed up and crushed
In the cloud of dust and debris.
I'll never see her again hear her voice,
As they don't have phones in Heaven.

It is the evening before that fateful day,
Strangle we talked about dying.
Angela asked, "What would you do if I died, suddenly?"
I said, simply, "I'd cry forever and keep loving you."
So now I cry forever and keep loving my darling Angela.
But I know she would want me to go on living,
To open my heart to love.
I know she would want me to experience with another
All the love we lost that ominous day
In New York when terror struck our nation
And took my Angela away.

One night in a dream Angela come to me.
I saw her and felt her inside me.
I heard her voice whispering
"I love you! I love you so much!
You have to keep our love alive!
You have to share it with others!
That's what you must do! Love for both of us!
So now I search for another
To share all of life and love
Knowing its what Angela would have wanted,
Knowing that somewhere there must be someone
Who will come to me to share and know
All the love I have to give.
I wonder who it will be?
Will it be you, or is this somehow a burden
Too hard to bare?

Ring ... ring ... ring ...
I wonder who is calling?
My heart aches inside for love
But does anyone care enough to call?
Does anyone care enough to love?
We could all die in an instant.
Realizing this how can anyone not
Seek to live their life to the fullest
And love with all their heart and might!
That's how I'm going to live my life
From this moment on.
So if you want to join me
And are not afraid to love
Then give me a ring ...
It was Angela who died that day,
Not me! And the greatest cruelty
I could do would be not to love another,
Not to go on living, dreaming, loving
With all my heart, mind and soul
Most passionately whoever God blesses
To come into my life.

Ring ... ring ... ring ...
I wonder if you will ever call
For you are my Angela
And did not die that fateful day.
This, my dear, is just a play,
That you might realize how precious
Is this that we call life.
So live each day, each hour,
To its fullest
And if you want, give me a call
Because I know how to love you
How to make you happiest
And fill your heart with joy,
With tears of delight,
Should you be my Angela.
