Some parts of the desert in the north west part of China are massive snad dunes. These dunes are hundreds of feet high and they go on as far as the eye can see.

How did people get accross the desert and over dunes like these back before the days of four wheel drive trucks? Yes, camels. They used to have huge caravans of camels to cross the deserts and carry all the goods they wanted to trade. Camels are still used today, not only for tourists to take pictures of, but also for local people to carry supplies back to their homes in the desert.
