In a few places in the desert there is water, and only because of that can people survive there. These places were amazing in that all around them was miles and miles of empty desert, and right in the middle of it was life. Sometimes an underground spring would create an oasis where people could get crops to grow.
This picture was taken in the town of Dunhuang where
the water from a spring turned the desert sand into
soil where people can farm the land right next to
where the desert is.
