Boards

[There are loads of boards on the market today, and this page is dedicated to giving you a rough guide to the different types and makes. You need to decide which style of boarding you are going to go for (freestyle or downhill), and then your price range.

There are two types of board available on the market today: Freestyle and downhill. Freestyle boards are designed for tricks and sharp responsive turns, while downhill boards are designed for speed and stability. Below is just a small selection of the boards made by mbs, Mongoose and Airforce, and are there primarily to show which sort of board is which
(NOTE: I am in no way connected with mbs or Mongoose or Airforce, and this site is just premoting the SPORT, not indevidual boards or companies.)

The mbs grasshopper is an ideal beginner freestyle board. As you can see, it's short light frame and soft bindings will contribute enormously to freestyle performance.

Downhill Board (Exit Free-ride.) You can see the frame extending out from the deck giving more stability.

Free-style board (Exit Airforce.) This board is much more compact and light, and is designed for trick riding.

The mbs blade is a more advanced board with larger 9'' wheels and special quadratruck (c) suspension. It is currently Mbs's to board, and is arguably the best mountainboard in the world. It's a boardercross style board and is perfectly suited for both carving and freestyling.

The mbs cricket is arguably the best junior board around. It is over 1kg lighter than the grasshopper board, and 9cm shorter, making it 110cm long, and weighing in at 7kg.

The mbs Charger is a typical down hill board with front and rear quadrashock suspension and hard bindings.

The mbs Spinal Tap is another downhill board very similay to the Charger, differing only in size and weight.

The mbs razor is a freestyle board with a difference!! The board is twisted by 10.25 degrees to give that little bit more turning power and ground clearence which is so importand on rough and twisty trails.

The MBS Blade, Razor and Grasshopper have (or are about to be) disontinued. They are to be replaced with the MBS Comp 26, Comp 16 and MBS Sol 16 respectivly. These are now on the market in the USA (www.mountainboardz.com) for roughly the same prices as the older boards. I guess you wanna know what they look like....Herre they are (WOW!)

The new MBS pro comp 26. The top of the top. Made with alluminium trucks and new multi flex bindings, this is the best board in the world anywhere, and has replaced the MBS Blade. Also has fitted (option) new V3 brakes. See in depth report in compilcated stuff section!

The New MBS comp 16. The replacment of the razor, this board also has multiflex bindings and eggshocks. Probably the best freestyle board available.

The new MBS Sol 16. The grasshoper replacement. This board also has aluminium trucksand is shown here with the brake kit fitted. It does not have the multiflex bindings, but has instead stayed with the old style free flex bindins. The best entry level board around
