Mountain boarding is essentially very good fun. The sport itself can be completley safe and controlled or very dangerous, depending where you do it and how good you are!If you've ever snowboarded or skated before you should have no problems getting to grips with it, but just remember to take you time while learning the basics, to stop any bad habbits developing.
Hopefully this site should tell you all you need to know about starting the sport, and then my links should provide you with further information. Mountain boarding is not a very expensive sport, and although the equipment itself is quite expensive (£200-£400) once you've got it, there are no more costs. There is only one problem with being a snowboarder in the uk....no snow. So one ingenious guy decided to take a skate board, put 8'' air filled tyres on it and call it a mountain board.
What's the idea?
The priciple behind mountain Boarding is very similar to that of snowboarding. You start at the top of a high hill and ride down as fast as you can, pulling off stunts if and when you can. Sounds easy? Don't be fooled. Mountain boarding is a high thrill sport with a certain amount of danger thrown in for fun!!.
