Chapter Thirteen

They arrived at the restaurant; which wasn't really dressy. It was more causal, the music was modern. Alecia smiled as she heard a Backstreet Boys' song come on as they were being seated.

"This is nice." Nick commented.

"Yes it is. Do you come here often?"

"Sometimes, when I. . ."

"Go ahead, you can say it."

"When, I want a drink."

Alecia laughed and shook her head. "We both know what you were going to say don't we?"

Nick shifted uncomfortably in his seat as Alecia chuckled and picked up her menu. They looked over the menu for a bit before ordering.

"So talk to me, Alecia, tell me about yourself."

"There's not much to tell really."

"Yes there is. Tell me about your family, what you do."

"Niiiick!" She whined.

He leaned across the table and looked her right in the eyes. "Please?" He whispered.

Alecia looked away; those eyes. It was like he could see right through her.

"Ok fine. I have one older sister whom I barely ever talk to. We're not on the best of terms right now. My parents live in Philadelphia and I went to college for graphic design. I currently work as a graphic designer at a major firm."

"Wow, I had no idea."

"Well I don't fit the criteria for it. No thick glasses and pocket protectors."

"I didn't mean like that. I just figured you were a model or something."

Alecia laughed. "Try again."

"What?"

"Another line, I've heard that one before and it doesn't work."

"But I was being serious." and he was. He did think somewhere in the back of his mind that she had to be some kind of model. Alecia just smiled and shook her head, looking around at the people. She listened as another song came on and had to laugh, it fit her situation so well.

Silly you, silly me, to letcha in and put a move on me
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Never once asked for love, always took it for what it's worth, memories

Well everything but the love part anyway. She wasn't looking for love, she listened as the song went on.

See I don't wanna meet on a lonely street, Where the talk is cheap and the price is sweet, I'm not that girl, I'm not that girl, And you don't wanna see the other side of me, so I'm gonna hit ya off and set ya free Before you fall too deep, don't fall too deep

Nick looked across the table at her and smiled. She had this way about her that he wasn't used to. She was smart and saw right through his disguise.

He don't know I'm gonna be the one who's gonna let him go, Even if he wants to stay I'll let him go, cuz all he wants from me is a private show, ohhh...

Alecia laughed at the words. Wow, it was perfect.

"What's so funny?"

"It's just this song. Wow! I mean it just fits this situation."

Nick tilted his head and listened.

He's all talk, thinks he knows, how this game's supposed to go, For everyone still it seems, he can't see, thinks he's just usin' me, usin me, see I don't wanna meet on a lonely street, where the talk is cheap and the price is sweet. I'm not that girl, I'm not that girl, and you don't wanna see the other side of me. So I'm gonna hit ya off and set ya free, Before you fall too deep, don't fall too deep

Nick looked at her exasperated.

"What?" She giggled.

"You're too much!"

"Wait wait, you have to hear the chorus!" She squealed.

Nick sighed and listened as the chorus came up.

He don't know, I'm gonna be the one who's gonna let him go, Even if he wants to stay I'll let him go, cuz all he wants from me is a private show, Ohhh...

"A private show! Alecia!"

She was laughing so hard her face was red. Nick couldn't help but join in.

He don't know, maybe if he wasn't such a gigolo, I would let him stay, instead I let him go, cuz all he wants from me is a private show, Ohhh... He don't know, I'm gonna be the one who's gonna let him go, I let him go, Private show, oh no no no, He don't know, I let him go Ohhh, pri-vate show, he don't know, he don't know, Cuz all he wants from me is a private show...oh oh oh, He don't know...oh oh oh...he don't know
