Chapter Sixteen
Two weeks later...
"Don't ask why I'm excited. I think it's cause I want to see AJ. There's something about him. He's just too funny."
"Ohh does someone have a crush?" Kris teased.
"NO! He's just nice, he's like a brother to me."
"No! Not the cursed brother feeling!" April moaned.
"Shut up! Not every guy has to be a crush, you know!"
"I mean he's hot though!" April whined.
"I'll say!" Kris smirked.
"Just admit you missed Nick." Michelle announced.
"I did not."
"You did so, you were calling us constantly telling us about what you thought he was doing right then. I've never seen someone mope so much." Kris agreed.
"I was just saying that they're probably busy and was trying to guess at what types of things they do on those promotional things, that's all."
"Uh-huh." April smirked.
"So we're just gonna wait here to see when they arrive? Don't we look like a bunch of fans or something?" Michelle asked.
"So! Now don't forget to hold up your 'Welcome Home' signs."
"This is so weird!" Kris sighed.
"Quiet Kris! Oh wait. . . there they are! Hold up them signs girls!" Alecia squealed.
They all held up their signs and giggled and squealed as the guys walked through the door.
"Wow! How nice!" Howie laughed.
"Aww look, more fans!" Brian smiled.
"There's my girl!" AJ laughed as he walked up to hug Alecia.
"I missed you AJ! You nut!"
"I missed you too honey!"
"Hi Kevin, welcome back!"
"Hi Alecia. Thanks!" Kevin smiled.
"Oh guys I'd like to introduce you to some close friends of mine. Kris Davidson, Michelle Parks, April Sanchez, you know who they are of course."
They all shook hands and said hi, Alecia looked around noticing Nick wasn't there. "Hey guys, where's Nick?"
"Oh, his slow ass is still getting his stuff out." AJ chuckled.
Alecia laughed.
"CeCe, we're gonna head up with the guys, you coming?" Kris asked.
"I'm gonna wait for Nick, I'll be up in a few."
"Ok." Kris replied and they all shuffled off.
Alecia walked over and sat on one of the couches, waiting for Nick. A few minutes later he came barreling through the door in what appeared to be some sort of rush.
"Whoa whoa, where's the fire?"
Nick came to a screeching halt. "Alecia!"
"Hi! Welcome back!"
"Wow, I wasn't expecting to see you here waiting."
"Well I wanted to surprise you I guess. . . surprise!"
"A very nice surprise." He came over and sat next to her, lugging his backpack and luggage with him.
"Did you have fun?"
"Yeah sorta, these things are always so tiring."
"You look tired. Just head up to your room and get some sleep. Here I'll help you with your bags." She started to stand when Nick stopped her.
"What's going on with you?"
"What do you mean?"
"Why are you being so nice to me?"
"Oh you have a problem with me being nice? I can be nasty you know."
"I know you can, but no, I mean, it's like you're glad I'm back or something."
"Well I don't know about all that, I just wanted to help you a little."
"Hey, I'm not one to argue." Nick stood and Alecia followed and grabbed one of his bags and headed towards the elevator. Nick came up next to her.
"Did you cut your hair?"
Nick looked at her shocked. "Yeah I did. Wow I didn't think you'd notice."
"I normally wouldn't but you got a lot taken off." She explained and stepped into the elevator. Nick smiled and climbed in after her.
Nick finished unpacking and flopped down on the bed. He had rushed into the hotel earlier, dying to see her, he wasn't expecting her to be waiting for him. It blew his mind. He wanted to spend time with her, but he knew she wouldn't want to. He was restless, he flipped the tv on. He was too tired to go out and didn't feel like putting up with some girl hanging all over him. He leaned back on the bed and watched tv for a few minutes before his eyes drifted shut.
Alecia walked into her room and put her purse down, she quickly undressed into her pajamas which consisted of shorts and a sweatshirt and settled down to watch the movies she rented. She put the first tape in and started it. She looked around the room, how come she never noticed how big and empty it was. Almost. . . lonely. She shook the feeling off and got comfortable on the bed and started watching. Five minutes later she was still lonely and the movie wasn't helping. She closed her eyes, she couldn't possibly do what she was thinking could she? No, he was probably asleep anyway and didn't want to be bothered, what if he had. . . someone in there with him? No, she wouldn't. She tried to focus back on the movie. But what if he didn't have someone? What if he was in fact awake? She could call him. . . no stupid idea. She turned her attention once again back to the screen. Screw it, she was going over there. She stopped the tape and put it in the case grabbed the other one and her card and headed out the door.
Nick was awakened by a soft knock on the door. He sat up and rubbed at his eyes before slowly making his way off the bed and over to the door. He opened it and his eyes widened as he watched Alecia turn and start to walk away.
"Alecia?"
"Oh! I woke you, didn't I? I'm sorry, I'm just gonna leave. Sorry."
"No wait! Don't worry about it. What's up?"
"Oh I uhh. . . I rented these movies and I wanted to watch them, but it's kinda. . . lonely in my room and. . . well. . . uhh. . . did you wanna watch them with me?"
"I. . ."
"Look if you're busy or have someone over it's ok. . . I figured you probably didn't want company or whatever, I'm just gonna. . ."
"Alecia wait a minute." Nick reached out and grabbed her around the waist and pulled her to him. "There's no one else here and I'd love to watch the movies with you." He smiled, releasing her and moving aside so she could enter the room. She came in and looked around. "Have a seat." She walked over and sat on the end of the bed and looked over at him. "What'd you rent?"
"Umm. . . 'Sixth Sense' and 'Any Given Sunday'"
"Ohh sounds good. Well pop one of em' in and let's get started." Nick smiled.
Alecia put one of the tapes in and sat back down.
"You can come up here you know, I don't bite."
She rolled her eyes and backed up until she was sitting next to him.
"Come closer." Alecia looked at him. "What? Would you just trust that I'm not gonna make any moves on you please."
She sighed and moved closer and he put his arm around her and smiled and turned his attention to the tv. A little while later Nick turned to say something to her when he saw that she'd fallen asleep. He smiled, she looked so peaceful curled up next to him. He sighed and looked back at the tv, a few minutes later he too was asleep.
