Angelfish will eat a wide variety of foods. It's best that they be fed a well balanced and varied diet. Below is a general guide to foods generally available a most local fish stores or on the internet.

Dependent upon water temperature and the size of your Angels they should be fed one to three times a day.

Adult Angelfish that are the size of a U.S. half dollar or larger can be fed one to two times a day. It's always better to feed small amount more frequently. A good quality flake high in protein (45% or more) should be fed as a daily staple. We also feed live and frozen Adult Brine Shrimp, frozen Bloodworms, frozen Beef Heart on a regular basis as a treat.

Juvenile Angelfish that are the size of a U.S. quarter or better can be fed the same as adults but with a little more frequency. We feed our juveniles three times a day but only feed enough so that it is completely eaten within one to two minutes.

Pre-Juvenile Angelfish or Free Swimming Fry should be fed freshly hatched Baby Brine Shrimp. Information on how to do this can be found on our Breeding Page. Other alternatives are available for fry to eat but in our experience Baby Brine Shrimp is the best food available for young Angelfish.

Visit our Links Page for information on where to purchase quality flake food and Baby Brine Shrimp Eggs.
