Queensland and Fraser Island
LAKE MCKENZIE
This is the beautiful Lake McKenzie. This lake is freshwater, but the floor of the lake is sand. When the water is calm and the sky is blue, the water is really clear to see through and is really blue itself. Unfortuantly, the 3 days we were on Fraser, it was windy and so we never saw the lake when it was calm.
LAKE WABBY
Lake wabby is the little spot of water on the side of the sand dunes there in the first picture. Those sand dunes are blown about 1 metre per year into the lake, so eventually, the lake won't be there anymore. In the first photo, the ocean is in the distance past the dunes. We came to Lake Wabby from an inland track. Those 2 new people in the photos are my cousin Paul and his girlfriend, Melissa. Paul and I went for a swim in the lake and it was very nice, but a little cold. That's a freshwater lake too with sand underneath.
