In January 1996, I had to study football at school. So I was interested in football and I played football everyday with my neighbours.
During the summer in Thailand(March-May), I still played football with my neighbours and tried to read newspaper about football. So I could understand what "League" means. English Premier League is the most popular in Thailand so I knew Premier League first.
One day, I've seen the match between the red-shirt club and the white-shirt club. (I didn't even know their names.) The red-shirt club impressed me then. And they scored and I still can remember that goal now. That evening, I read the newspaper and known that the red-shirt club is Manchester United. And the white-shirt club is Leeds United. The scorer was Roy Keane and Manchester United won 1-0. So I knew what team won, but I still didn't support any teams.
Later, I've seen Manchester United again. The news said this team has changed their shirts in half-time from grey-shirts and they will never use those grey-shirts again. I thought it was "crazy team". But I began to like this team.
In the end of the season 1995/96, Manchester United crown the Champions. And they had to play FA Cup against Liverpool. And that was the first match I really supported Manchester United. On Sunday after the match, I've known that they won the Double Champs!!!
In the Charity Shield match, Manchester United was to play against Newcastle United. I also cheered for them and they won 4-0. In the match report, it said David Beckham played so well...
In 1996/97 season, Manchester United played against Wimbledon in the open match. So this season is the first season I've ever cheered them. And they beat Wimbledon 3-0. I've seen those 3 goals and the last goal impressed me. It was shot by David Beckham from 57 yards. So he bacame my favourite player.
The first match that I've seen it live was the match between Manchester United and Juventus at Old Trafford. Manchester United lost 0-1, though. but they played very well.
Later, while I am watching the match. My friend always calls me at half-time and we talk about the game. It plays at midnight or 2.30am, though.
