GUIDELINE FOR SUPPORT PEOPLE Drug dependence is a disease, which leads to physical, emotional and psychological problems. Drug dependent are people who need support and help to give up drug and lead qualitative lives. For a drug dependent, recovery begins with refraining completely from drugs. This is also followed by learning to manage his life better; making positive changes in various aspects of his life. To help the drug dependent in the recovery process, it is very important that he has well-wishers, SUPPORT PEOPLE, who are willing to assist him in his recovery. Besides he should have self-motivation and interest in giving up the drugs. Drug addiction by itself is a disease, a disease that can be treated by undergoing different treatment processes. Without treating this disease, any other alternative, like changing jobs, getting him/ her married, etc, will not help stop that. It can be treated. In the process of treatment the client get help to keep away from drug totally. This is only one solution to the problem of addiction.WHO ARE SUPPORT PEOPLE? Support People can be anybody, who have a keen interest in the welfare of the patient. He/ she must not use any drugs. He / she must meet the patient frequently. He/ she must be respected by the client. Usually parents are the best support people but friends, uncles, sisters, brothers, fathers in-law etc can also be support people. WHY SUPPORT PEOPLE? It is very important to have support people. The following are the causes why patients need support people.
WHAT IS DONE DURING THE TREATMENT PROCESS: Detoxification: It is a process by which the drug dependent person is withdrawn from the effects of the drug. It is the process of coming off the drugs. It is usually done in a supervised way so that the withdrawal symptoms and the risk related to the withdrawal are minimized. Detoxification is merely one of the initial steps in the treatment of drug dependence. This may last for 72 hours. There are various methods of detoxification for drugs withdrawal. These may be:
Why Detoxification?:
What happen during Detoxification?
PSYCHOLOGICAL THERAPY PROGRAME: Detoxification is followed by a psychological therapy program. The program provides an understanding of the various aspects of living a healthy life. This program helps clients to know and understand their behavior, attitudes, feelings and problems. They understand what made them get stuck in drugs. The client can feel the correct treatment for their betterment. WHAT ARE INCLUDED IN THE PSYCHOLOGICAL THERAPY PROGRAM?: Psychological Therapy generally includes:
WHAT IS RELAPSE: Relapse simply means, "return to previous level of activity following an attempt to stop or reduce that activity."(Wanigaratne). It is again to be the dependent on drugs. It is also a part of the disease. Many factors are responsible for causing relapse. These factors that cause relapse are mainly divided as Biological, Psychological and Social. Before relapse some sort of warnings sign occur in patients. Some of the warning signs in the patients are:
RELAPSE IS CURABLE: Relapse is curable. It is a part of the disease. If a patient starts drugs again bring him/ her to the treatment center. Guilt feelings are very high during the first few days. Support people have to help and encourage him that he can recover. One must not scold and behave negatively. Be positive and bring him to the treatment center.
WE CAN MAKE A DRUG FREE WORLD. WOMEN.Women in Nepal are deprived either by societies or many other crises. They are the daughters, wives, sisters and mothers. They are identical in these roles. They are binded by the norms, culture and society. Despite the interest and the rights they are not free for their lives. Analysis for the women's status has shown that more than 60% of women are either the victims of domestic violence, trafficking, abuse and illiteracy. Why is this? It is because of poverty. In my notion poverty is the cause of illiteracy.Education plays an important role for the self-development and others. It goes like education to person, family, group, society, village, region and country. It is said that if a woman is educated whole family will be educated and if a male is educated he is just with it. It shows that how important the education is for women. It is said that men and women are compliment each other. In actual fact, however it is a lopsided relationship with the women performing many roles. Women are discouraged and prevented from taking part in public life. From the birth the girl child is discriminated. Her emotional growth is suppressed by the values imposed by family and society. She is not given to learn the rights. Women even don't know the fundamental rights. Sons are viewed as a protector of and provider for the family. Daughters are viewed as a future property of another home. There is a real gap between boy and a girl.Male and female are the only status that nature has provided in human. But the society emerged a monopoly superstition of gender. Then the discrimination on women emerged as a term gender arouse. Women are kept in four walls doing many roles like cooking, washing, housework, and childcare. It shows that a woman works ten times more then a man. They should have ten hands instead of two. There is no praise for the work they have done and neither there is the reward. After the return of husband they have to think and take care of them. But who will take care of the women. It is unanswered. Once in a meeting to a doctor I was said that it is the duty of the women. If the people so called educated thinks in that way, then think what is the situation of women here in Nepal.Love might have been the first strongest and deepest drive in the almighty leading to the creation of the universe. Every creative work is guided by an instinct of love. Love has the unifying force; it the bond of every things. It is common notion that love, particularly spiritual one, unifies man- women best. The jubilation from such love supernal love sublimates the whole of humanity into a fresh dimension of being. But why are there so much fuss and power polities for domination and subordination regarding the status of women and men in this world?Women are viewed as shoes, forwarding "If legs are there, there are many shoes". By nature women are very humble and sensitive. They do not react whatever will be the conditions. They accept all what passes on them. Women work longer hours and are paid on average 25% less then men, but they have made a significant giants in entering male dominant jobs. Women are the first teacher to the family. She passes on what she has learnt. These things will stand as a pillar in their heart and they relay the same message to their children. It is the continuous process for the illiterate women. We are the good follower we follow what are taught and said but we never do what is right and what is good. This is because why women delay in decision-making role and other activities. My visit to many of the societies in village and town I found out that women struggling against the odds. They are deprived of opportunities, education and rights. I saw women lacking self-confidence in their own inherent skills and capabilities, living in fear. I focus my article in education to women. Discrimination in education is the one of the main causes of female poverty and underemployment. In addiction, they are burdened with household chores, such as cooking cleaning and looking after children.Women are the backbone of a society. Men and women are equally accountable for all activities in society. Women also possess strength, intelligence and will, which she can call upon in time of need.we remain hopeful about mitigating the exacerbating situation by making rural women more aware and active participant in the search for sustainable solutions. To harness the potential of rural women, we must all work towards educating, motivating and reforming and thought provoking actions for both men and women. Old traditional and cultural bonds which act, as hindrance of the behavioral change in society needs to be stopped. All should accept that men and women are the two wheels of the chariot and step out towards the development. |
