[ My History ]

Hello, My name is Maria Fernanda Reus Flores, I am ten years old and have cancer, the diagnosis was given to me by the end of March, since then I have fought  against this I have a smaller sister and my mother to whom I have to give strength to fight this illness. 

My tumor is called embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma and is place on the pelvis I started my first chemoterapy treatment on March 29 due to the chemotherapy secondary effects I have to return to the hospital and remain there 13 days more with a pneumonia during that time I have to receive 5 blood and plaques  transfusions to strength my body to keep on going.  Now I  lost all my hair and my eyelashes. 

For my second chemotherapy treatment I lost 18 kg. but I got a surprise due that the exams show that my tumor has been reduced in a 90%, during the treatment I complain from headaches and the doctor send to made a cat scan and they discover another six tumors located in my right side of the brain, my doctor called a radiotherapist so we can start a radiotherapy treatment as soon as possible, they have given me this treatment during 20 days  and my head is totally burned and have warms in my ears, but I am still fighting against the cancer I know that I can beat it. 

I return to the hospital on May 22 to my third chemotherapy, before they start  the treatment the doctor order different studies and I was very happy to find out that my primary tumor has already disappear and from the 6 tumors on my head there were only two of them and they have reduced their size a lot, so I hope in the next set of studies  we discover that they have already disappear.   When we receive the news my family and  all of us start crying and giving thanks to God for his help, but I am happy due that I know that no matter how bad I feel I am winning the cancer. 

On June 18 I will return to my last chemotherapy treatment and will start my radiotherapy  in  the zone where the primary tumor was located, there are 28 sessions and I know that I will loose the opportunity to have a child, but I hope God allow me to share and give my love to other people, besides there are a lot of kids need to be love. 

When I finish the radiotherapy treatment I am going to need a marrow transplant, the doctor has already explain me how this treatment will take place  I have to be during one month and a half in complete isolation to avoid any contamination, this treatment is very expensive and my mother is not able to work she needs to  take care of me 24 hours a day, so she is not able to pay the amount of money I will require to take this treatment, so once again I ask God to  help me to open all the obstacles in my way I have meet a lot of Angels  who has help me so far.  

I talked to my doctor and explain him that My mother does not have the amount for this treatment. My doctor told that there is an association called Kinder Cancer, this association help people like myself that require a marrow transplant.   They give receipts totally deductible from taxes and this money will help me to have a life again.  So if you help with the any amount so I can start this treatment.
