"What are you doing here Kyle?" Isabel demanded, staring in shock at him.
"I needed to talk to you guys," Kyle said gruffly, shoving his way past Isabel who was too stunned to stop him.
"What's there to talk about Kyle?" Michael asked, walking into the living room where they were, maria beside him. Alex followed. "I don't see exactly what we have to say to you."
"I heard from my dad about Tess disappearing and all," Kyle said, shoving his hands in his pockets.
"So.......?" Michael asked sarcastically, "I bet half the town has heard about her disappearance."
Kyle sat down on the couch, and thought for a moment, then said. "Well, where is she."
"We have no idea Kyle," Max said smoothly, holding Liz's hand in his, "Surely your father told you that too."
Kyle nodded, "He told me you said you didn't. And, I don't believe it for a moment."
"Why would we lie Kyle?" Maria demanded.
He shrugged, "To cover your asses I guess. To protect yourselves from facing the consequences of whatever you did to her."
Isabel shook her head, "We didn't do anything to her Kyle. She left last night, and we haven't seen her since."
Kyle shook his head, "I don't believe you Isabel. I don't believe that Tess left here alive last night."
"You think we killed her?" Michael said, "Oh, that's rich Kyle. Why the hell would we want to get rid of her? Let me guess, you think we kill people just for the hell of it?"
Kyle shook his head, "Oh, I believe you had a reason."
"And what would that be Kyle?" Isabel demanded, her hands on her hips.
He shrugged, "I guess maybe because she was an FBI agent."
His statement brought complete shock. Maria managed to recover first. "She was an FBI agent?" she managed to choke out.
Kyle gave her a disbelieving look, "Oh, don't play dumb with me Maria. You knew all along."
"How do you know she was an FBI agent?" Max asked guardedly, "I mean, she was just a kid at school."
Kyle shook his head, "Give me a break Max, you know as well as I do that she was a Fed, and besides that cops and FBI seem to be very interested in you lately. But, as to now I know, it's quite simple. She wasn't a very good agent. She had her badge in her locker at school for God's sake for any fool to see, and she used her cellular phone without checking to see if anyone was around."
Max glanced at his sister and Michael who were looking at Kyle in shock. "We don't know what you're talking about," he finally said.
"Yes you do Max," Kyle said with a mocking smile, "Know, all I want to know is what you did with Tess."
"We didn't do anything Kyle," Isabel insisted.
"Oh come on," Kyle said, standing up from the couch. He walked over to stand in front of Max, "How about it Max? How did you do it? Did you hit her over the head? did you poison her? Did you shoot her, with her own gun? Come, tell me. How did you do it?"
"He didn't do anything," Isabel said in a pleading voice, "None of us did. Tess left last night, just went home. Just leave Kyle. Please, just go."
"You see, Isabel," Kyle said, turning his head marginally to look at her, "I don't believe that for a moment. I think Tess is dead. I don't know which one of you did it, but she's dead all right."
"We don't know anything about her Kyle," Michael said in a deadly voice, "I suggest you stop making unfounded accusations."
"They are not unfounded," Kyle said with a deadly smile, "Tess is dead, and eventually someone will prove it."
"Why do you care so much about her state of being?" Maria demanded. "It's not like the two of you were all buddy-buddy."
Kyle shrugged, "Let's just say I'm a concerned citizen. It doesn't bode well for the safety of Roswell to have a killer walking among us. Especially one from another planet."
"Excuse me?" Isabel demanded, her eyes nearly popping out of her head.
"Kyle," Liz said suddenly, her first time to speak since he arrived. "Why are you here?"
"I'm here to find out what you guys did with Tess," he said simply.
She shook her head, "That's not what I meant. Why are you even in Roswell? You left yesterday for a tournament with the basketball team."
Kyle looked at her for a long time. He seemed to be deciding something, then he shrugged.
"Oh hell," he said, "I didn't think this would work. I'm not getting anywhere this way, might as well forget it."
They all watched in amazement as Kyle took a couple steps back from Max. He changed before their very eyes. One minute he was Kyle, and the next he was glowing.
The light wasn't blinding, but Kyle was now just a big ball of light. It was silver, sort of like the color on Liz's stomach when Max had healed her from the bullet wound.
When the light vanished, Kyle was gone. Someone else stood there though.
It was the sheriff's deputy.
