It was Friday night at the Evans house. It was amazing how circumstances had changed in the past week. Tonight was supposed to be a fun night for a bunch of friends to get together and relax. Unfortunately, it had become a night of purpose to protect 3 people's identity.

Michael rang the doorbell. Maria stood beside him, rubbing her arms from the cold. Alex stood behind them with Liz.

"Why did we bother coming again?" Maria complained, "I mean, it's not like we can break him from Tess's influence. He's under her spell. Besides, all we are going to get are more arguements and verbal abuse from him. This is not worth our time. We should be interrogating Topolsky or something."

Michael shook his head, "We know Tess is still coming, Isabel told us. We can't let them have some big heart to heart tonight. And," he said, glancing over his shoulder at Liz, "Maybe Max is stronger than this stupid perfume she's wearing."

"And pigs fly," Maria muttered under her breath as the door opened.

Isabel stood in the front door. She was wearing a grim expression. "Tess," she said in a snide voice, "Is already here."

They followed her inside. Max came into the entrance with Tess, his arm slung carelessly around her. "Why are they here?" he demanded of Isabel, his face turning angry.

"They're here to watch movies with us," Isabel snapped, "We invited them here. Even though you seemed to hate everyone, they are still my friends. Deal with it."

Max looked ready to explode, but Tess placed a calming hand on his chest. "The more the merrier," she said in a light flirty voice. The expression on Max's face changed to a smile as he stared down at her.

Maria wanted to retch.

As Maria passed by Tess, the FBI agent sent her a murderous glance. Maria just returned the gaze evenly. not the least bit afraid of her. They would not make this easy for her.

Michael passed by Tess as she and Max blocked the doorway. Maria saw the confusion on Tess's face as Michael never even reacted to Tess's perfume. Maria nearly laughed. Little did they know Isabel had used her powers to shut the passages of Michael's nose. She had done hers too just in case. They had to breath through their mouths, but it was better then risking it.

They all flopped down on seats in the living room. The group positioned themselves so that Max and Tess had nowhere to sit together. It didn't work because Max just sat himself on the floor and pulled Tess onto his lap.

Maria watched Liz look way quickly and watched her eyes fill with tears. Right now she wanted to kill Tess. They had actually discussed the possibility earlier, but had decided against it. Not a good idea for the FBI to come after them for murder. Right now Maria was willing to take that risk.

"So, what are we watching," Alex asked cheerfully, seeing the murderous glare Maria was sending at Tess.

"Tess brought over a movie," Isabel said in an icy voice.

"I rented Ever After," Tess said with a smile, holding it up. "It's one of my favorite movies."

Maria sighed. Romantic movie. Great, great great. That was a great way to get Max from the evil bitch. Romantic movies to accent the lethal love potion she was wearing.

Maria snuck a glance at Michael. Maybe a love potion wasn't such an evil thing, well, as long as you discluded the part where the guy turned into an ass.

Max popped the video into the VCR and returned to his place on the floor beside Tess. The starting credits began to roll across the screen.

It didn't take long for Maria appreciate Alex. Normally, she hated watching movies with him. He could be annoying as hell. Tonight, whether he was doing it on purpose or not, she was incredibly grateful.

It would be impossible for Max and Tess to get all romantic with Alex cracking jokes and making fun of the movie to Isabel who was sitting beside him, and them behind the 2 lovebirds on the floor.

Tess was getting annoyed with them. It was obvious on her face. Tonight was obviously when she had planned to co-erce Max into telling her everything.

Maria was annoyed too. Thanks to Tess she wasn't able to enjoy one of her favorite movies.

Maria could pinpoint the exact moment Tess decided she had enough and was going to get to Max whether they were there or not.

"Can I talk to you?" she asked Max is the sultry voice that Maria hated, but wanted for herself. "Alone."

Max nodded, like a lovesick puppy.

Everyone shot to their feet, wanting to detain the couple.

"Are you sure you want to do that Max?" Michael asked carefully. "Are you sure it's a good idea."

The look Max turned on him made him realize how different Max was. Michael had never expected to see the blind rage present Max's eyes, ever.

He backed off slowly, not wanting to antagonize him. Tess shot Maria a triumphant glance.

As the couple exited the room and climbed the stairs to Max's bedroom, Isabel collapsed on the couch.

"We're dead," she said simply, putting her face in her hands.
