For your information from Sandy Wilk, PTSA President: There seems to be a problem with cussing and inappropriate language by students at school. The school administration is taking steps to curtail and hopefully eliminate this problem. I feel that the school can only do so much. It is also up to the parents to do their part. We need to set a good example for our children to follow. It is said that there are two major categories of swearing: casual, defined as lazy language that displays negative attitude, and casual, which is associated with anger, frustration, impatience or annoyance. What we need to do is to try and control when and where we, as parents, us inappropriate language. If we can show our children that this language is unnecessary, inappropriate and damaging by our control and limited usages, we will set a good example for them. We, as parents, are our children's first and foremost teachers. Our choice of words determines whether we are viewed as mature, intelligent, polite and pleasant; or rude, crude, insensitive and offensive. Here are some tips: Recognize that swearing does damage; Start by eliminating casual swearing; Think positively; Practice being patient; cope, don't cuss; Stop complaining; Use alternative words; Make your point politely; Work at it.
We are very proud of the accomplishments of our
students...Keep up the good work!
