The Nagy Heraldry |
Update! (no really, its an update!) Happy New 2008... as a new year's resolution, I promised myself to have an updatable new Nagy site. After my old forum (circa 2005) died when my hosting provider went bankrupt, I finally spent a few hours over my holiday to buy a domain and a new Nagy Forum! Its not very polished at the moment, but I'll work towards that this year. Hope that this will bring the 'Nagys of the world' closer together. Visit NagyName.com here
Hello my friends this is the section that is wholeheartedly
devoted to the Nagy, the whole Nagy, and nothing but
the Nagy. It has everything you wanted to know about Nagy but
were afraid to ask. The first question that may come to the mind of a
non-Nagy is "what in the hell is a Nagy?" A Nagy
is a curious species of Homo Sapiens of Hungarian ancestry who is
often psychologically marred for life by the frequent mispronunciation
of his or her last name.
Before I get into the legacy of Nagy phonetic fallacies, let me give the
English etymology of the Hungarian word. Nagy means large, super,
grand and almighty in Hungarian. Traditionally, a person with the last
name of the name of Nagy was the same as having the title "The
Great". However, the common folk thought that this would be a pretty groovy
name to have for their own so soon Nagy become as common as Smith or Johnson
is in English.
To find some really fantastic Nagy folks on the web, why not check out
my Famous Nagy's Page! I have some really
interesting Nagy Links too - my goal to
to capture the collective Nagy soul (whatever that is) on the world wide
web. Whether it is sacred or profane, you'll find some Nagy behind it!
Please contribute - love hearing your nagy stories. If you
have something you would like to include in this site please email me
at vonnagy@yahoo.com.
