Important Message from the Editor

In the past few months the Reactionary Council of Galway, or Galway City Council to use the 'official' title, have sent several communications to The Naked Galwegian offices. These have taken various forms - letters, emails, phone calls and, once, a brick through our window - but while the medium has differed, the message has always been the same. 'Stop printing or we will stop you.'

They've accused us of Libel. They've accused us of Slander. They've even accused us of Slibel, the archaic crime of reading aloud the libellous printed word.

Well, as editor and despot of The Naked Galwegian, I'm here to let you the reader know that we're not going to give up our paper without a fight.

Galway needs to hear the truth. Galway has the right to be informed. Galway can cover our legal costs. Right?

All we're asking of you is whatever you can afford to help us battle this pointless, no-win case through the courts. Somewhere in the region of twenty thousand euro should cover it. That works out at about a grand per reader according to the last readership figures we received. So get out those cheque books and start keeping us afloat.

We would also welcome all letters of protest that our readers can send or email to Galway City Council. Register your disgust at their Draconian mindset. Fight the power and don't forget to email copies of all letters to us too.

Yours,

Johnson P. Reynolds, Editor
