Showbands cleans up at the Golden Globes

RTE's much acclaimed hard hitting nostalgia series Showbands swept the boards at the Golden Globes on Sunday night last. RTE bosses are said to be delighted with pulling off such a coup, beating off stiff competition from the likes of Desperate Housewives, The Sopranos, Angels of America, ER and Six Feet Under.

A spokesman for RTE said "well we all knew we had something special here and with the phenomenal public response after it aired we weren't too surprised when we received the nominations but you always hold your breath in these situations, even if it is a sure thing." When asked about Kerry Katona's bizarre acceptance speech at the awards ceremony in L.A., the RTE spokesman would only say "we are extremely proud of Kerry's performance in what was a gruelling and taxing role, her dedication in learning her lines and repeating them without looking straight at the camera was quite simply amazing…"

When The Naked Galwegian called Kerry's publicist for a statement about what has now been dubbed 'Kerrygate', she would only say that Kerry had very little sleep in the last few days and was jet-lagged and that's why she may have appeared a little incoherent in the red carpet interviews. When further probed as to Kerry's lifting up of her dress on stage, spanking her own bottom and screaming "Who's your mamma now Brian? Who's your mamma now?" her publicist sighed with exasperation and finally said "How the fuck should I know? She's a fucking fruit-loop okay, okay?"
