Movie Update **Will air in JAN. 4 1999** Barbara Mandrell has been tapped to star in The Wrong Girl,
an
NBC movie co-starring Jonathan Scarfe from ER and Zoe McClellan of Inventing
The
Abbotts. The second installment of the NBC Studios franchise, Cliffhanger
chronicles
a mother's struggle with her 20-year-old son's lunatic lover, whose mad
manipulation
of the family escalates into deadly destruction. Mandrell plays a dedicated
mother
locked into a dangerous triangle with her alcoholic son (Scarfe) and his
psychopathic
girlfriend (McClellan).
Soap Suds Just in - Barbara's daughter, Jaime Nicole, has landed herself a role on the Soap Opera "As the World Turns". Her role is to start sometime around July 5, 1998. No word on who or what or how long the role is. Tune in and see.
Movie Rumors It is confirmed Barbara is filming a movie of the week. The rumor part is: It is being filmed in Toronto Canada, and she will play a mother of 3. The middle child has a drinking problem.

Bon Appetite If you eat at Magnolias restaurant in Franklin, TN,
there's a chance Barbara Mandrell's son cooked the meal. Mandrell and husband Ken Dudney are investors in the restaurant run by chef Richard Hamilton. Matt Dudney, Barbara & Ken's son, works there as a cook. Farewell to steel guitars and tourbuses, Hello to the Beach!!
Barbara Mandrell gave her farewell concert on Oct. 23rd at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville Tn. This was Barbara's swan song, the last public performance to a career that lasted 38 years. (see Reviews Page) If you weren't at the Opry in person to see the show, don't fret. TNN will televise the concert on Jan. 27, 1998. Now it is on to the beach for this blond. Barbara can be seen on NBC's soap Sunset Beach on December 8. Her appearence will last about 5 weeks. She will be playing Alex Mitchum. A photojournalist afflicted with cancer. September 10, 1997
Announcement today: Barbara Mandrell Retires from Music and pursues acting.
Her last show will be held at the
Grand Ole Opry on October 23, 1997. Barbara, being the trooper she is,
will surely give the best show of her career.
