Louise Mandrell, born on July 13 is the middle of the 3 sisters. Being in the middle has not been a barrier, if anything it enhances her beauty and talents. (click HERE, to see what I mean!) Louise is adept not only at playing fiddle and bass, she can adroitly make the piano, guitar, banjo, synthesizer and clarinet sing out the way they were meant to be played. Along with the great sounding music, Louise always looks fabulous doing her thing. So much so that in the early 80s, Louise became the spokeswoman for White Rain hair products. There were commercials made of Louise on stage playing the fiddle like the Devil broke loose in Georgia but her hair stayed gorgeous. Convincingly so, that I still use White Rain today, unfortunately it has done nothing for my fiddle playing.
Not only does Louise handle musical instruments with ease, she is an expert marksman as well. She enjoys trap, skeet and clay shooting and has taken high honors in many shooting competitions. Her love for the sport and willingness to educate others in the safety of firearms has won her the title of Honorary Chairwoman of National Hunting and Fishing Day in 96'. This day was set aside by Congress in 1971 in recognition of the contributions hunters and anglers have made to wildlife conservation. Her talents can only be equalled by her generousity and care of others. One of her many charitable actions is an Annual Celebrity Shoot which raises monies for the Boy Scouts of America, an organization Louise firmly supports.
Louise has undertaken a new business project one I am sure the fans are elated to hear about. It is the Louise Mandrell Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN. It opened September 12, 1997. You can go there and see Louise's dynamic live show and witness for yourself one of the best entertainers on the circuit today. If you like high energy, get up and hoot & holler kind of shows, this is for you. The 2 hr show (2hrs? how does she do it?) will run 6 days each week.
