THE JOTA is the folk dance of many Spanish regions.
In Castile it is quite moderate and austere,revealing the suffering
condition of the Castilian people. The greather part of the jotas
are related to the traditional way of life of the Castilian country
The Jota was originated in the medieval carol, and it gathers "los
cortejos"(the courtships): "rondas, mayos "; "las fiestas"(the parties):
bodas (weddings), bautizos(christenings),
patronos (patron saints) "; "la vida cotidiana"(everyday's life):
"nanas y labores de la casa "(bullabies and homeworks); and "faenas y vida
en el campo" (the task and the life in the country) following
their own rhythin: sowing, reaping, threshin,
grape harvest.
beacuse of this,it is a very hapy dance,animated, danced by groups
and of county and folk party.
