The Brujah went through a changing of the guard in 1990. It was then, soon after the death of Kim Vircero, that Dr. David Oswald was named Primogen. He was the lowest generation of all the other Brujah in Nashville, due to the fact that he was Vircero's childe. He had been a Kindred for only 25 years at that time, so there was a lot of adjusting to be done, both on his part and on the part of his fellow clan members. Kasashi Mitsukine is the only other Brujah left in Nashville that was in the city before Vircero's death at the hands of an Assamite. Kasashi came to the Music City in 1968. At that time, the Brujah were more powerful. Vircero was one of the more powerful elders within Nashville, and she often gave Matteus (the former Prince) fits.
Throughout the 1970's and 80's, the Brujah were a force to be reckoned with in Nashville. They ran their clan within the cellar of The Meat Grinder, a bar that served as Vircero's and Oswald's haven. After Vircero's death, Oswald was named Primogen, but only after intense in-fighting. As the clan became more separated without Vircero's strength to hold them together, their power slowly faded. After Matteus' death in 1996, the short two week war that followed left the Brujah nearly barren. After that time, the dead Brujah's childer were presented to the new prince, Roman Gaetan. Andre Sergenov and Stacy Bruce had lost their sires in the war of '96, while Desiree was Sergenov's own childe. Acid D had just moved into the city from Detroit less than six months before the war. He considers himself an anarch, but decided to present himself to Gaetan since the opportunity for unbiased acceptance into Nashville was there.
Since Gaetan's crowning, the Brujah have done little to improve their standing inside the city. The clan is large enough, but with their high generations and low status, little can be done. However, the newer Brujah are calling for an uprising more frequently as time goes by. Some even say that they hope to find an elder from elsewhere to come to Nashville and take over as Primogen.
In 1998, Bruce and Desiree, along with many other Kindred within the city, were destroyed amid the chaos that resulted from the resurrection of a Gangrel antidiluvian. Since those hectic weeks, Ebony appeared on the scene preaching her theory of power by violence. With the ever-growing resentment over Dr. Oswald's leadership, the Primogen gained permission to sire Bull, who serves as Oswald's enforcer and bodyguard. |
